it only took 3.5 hours to get through the van Allen belt on the way to the moon and 2.5 hours on the way back

It’s difficult to describe the Van Allen belt in layman’s terms, but it isn’t a uniform sphere surrounding the earth 

Very, VERY basically, imagine a donut as the belt and a marble sitting in the hole, as the earth.

Im not an astrophysicist, so I can only go by what they tell us, but this may give an idea how a spacecraft can get past the Van Allen belt.

Mate, I f you disbelieve everything that’s fine, but do a little research and you’ll find plenty of pictures of earth.

I find it strange that you only look for the impossible, never the possible.

Sound doesn’t really propagate in space so you can’t do Mach anything.
