Same girl for 27 years and I pay for pretty much everything, including all the motors she’s driven. She pays to maintain/insure her car, her phone bill, and buys most of the shopping. What she has left she blows spectacularly on clothes, make-up and other absolute sh!te.., house is full of it! Cash burns a hole in her pocket till it’s gone. If we had a joint account I’d be fcukin pot-less by now.., or we’d have parted ways a long time ago. Must be one hell of a ride …

chartpolski 27,325
My feed merchant has finally started accepting card, has always been cash only. I asked him why and he said there’s only one bank in a 30 mile radius that will accept cash of £1,000 up to a limit of £10,000 per deposit and they charge a handling fee ! He’s asking customers to do a bank transfer instead of card, as he has to pay the card companies a commission. How has it come to this, banks charging you to accept your cash ? Cheers.

We got both one where her money goes into that's joint. And the one that's seperate my money goes into.

A chip shop by me only does cash or bank transfers because of the card charges . If I was him I’d get a big safe and a bigger dog and keep cash stashed .

My local chinky’s was cash only until recently, now they take card……a sign of the times, I’m afraid. I keep some “folding”,as I imagine Wilf might say, plus some gold and shares and other hedges against inflation, but at my age it’s not something I worry too much about. Everything goes to my grandson eventually, and with his modest trust fund and his wealthy other grandparents, I hope his future is assured, but who knows ? Cheers.
Qbgrey 4,253
They don’t want us doing anything cash . Any money you spend on card obviously will show up on your bank statement so then they can tax you on it . Cash is becoming as unfashionable as indoor smoking , people jump back in shock if you pull out the pie n mash.

Cash is becoming as unfashionable as indoor smoking , people jump back in shock if you pull out the pie n mash. A mate just bought a place over here and they went back over 5 years checking his accounts. Thing is, he had some money which he transferred to his parents in India to pay them for a loan they gave him for his masters and the bank wanted to know what it was used for etc. The money was drawn out and spent as cash and could no longer be traced. He nearly lost his mortgage even with a 65% deposit in the bloody bank lending him the other 35%. I’m limited to depositing 10k in cash per year and will still be charged 1.5% for every deposit on top of an annual fee for having the fuucking account. Then I also get charged for the card and also if I lose the card and need cash then I can withdraw with a single use code from the app and will be charged 2.50€ per withdrawal. Wtf is the difference if I withdraw with a card or a bloody code? Also if I deposit the annual limit the bank has to declare it to the taxman, even if I do it over the year in 100€ deposits. Then we all know what happens then… prove where the cash came from! Edited April 25 by mushroom 1
