Been up in all sorts from man baskets on the end of crane (with a twat of an old steel erctor swinging it when we were 100ft in the air for a laugh, not funny) , to the biggest mobile cherry picker you can drive yourself, we needed it to go out and over a building not for the height but the reach.. but being younger me and my brother thought we'd take it in the middle of the car park and take it to the top height (think it was 125ft), the last boom takes you away from the base and then back up, (that had my ass twitching to be honest lol). Done a few stupid things at height looking back at it at, clipped my brothers harness to a steel when we up in a machine, he didn't know until I took the machine down and left him hanging, wasn't happy... end of the day brother went in the porta loo for a crap, I picked the loo up with a telehandler and put him on top of a double stacked container, about 30ft up, the loo was rocking like f**k, door sprung open and he's sat there shouting like f**k at me, how he didn't fall, out I don't know.lol... he really didn't see the funny side of that one, didn't talk to me for a day or 2 lol

Lol Funny enough I also had a job as a kid doing the cladding on two massive old Zepplin hangers in Bedford….but that was all scaffold and standing on the roof of that didn’t bother me at all……other than they used to do explosive testing in them and it took ages to climb down, wait for them to set off the explosion and then climb all the way back up again. I had a very near miss on that job, was tec screwing sheets to the side about halfway down, heard a noise above me and quickly pulled my arms back to my sides as a sheet of Steel came down like a guillotine. Never seen two sheds so big in my life.

Never seen two sheds so big in my life. I know an old lad that lost the end of 2 fingers to a sheet that slipped down the wall as we was sorting the bottom sheet, I also dropped a tek gun on his head from 2 lifts up, (old fashioned big heavy gun) put him on his knees, I was pretty young 21 maybe, he was in his late forties then.. f**k he kicked off... I couldn't breathe for laughing. When we first started on the steels we walked the lot, up over the rafters etc, no machines (lots on farm jobs) looking back we were mad to do it, no nets under the roofs which is compulsory now, the first job I ever had nets on was a massive unit in Plymouth, I fell in the net on the first day lol... taking chances you'd never take if they weren't there. its a lot safer than it was, and we won't have lads work anywhere without all the safety measures right, a firm close to us has had 2 fatalities on farm jobs through falls, no scaffold or nets to save money... c**ts, I'd rather live in a box than have that on my conscience Edited 3 hours ago by NEWKID
