True wilf very much so, I have nt really missed much in the way of kids growing up, obviously working a lot and I’d love to chill out in the garden with family etc, that’s what the weekends for, no point sitting with friends if you got no dollar for a bit of scran and nice drinks.my kids would rather go on decent holiday than have me at every event. My lads into shooting , I spoil the little bugger and spend £10,000 a year on it . He learns respect, and meets people all over the uk so it money well invested and I enjoy going along . I sometimes see the ole dole queue gang walking along with the ole grey matching trakkies, roll up on the go, cheesy tattoos, shouting at the kids dressed in rags, spending what money the govt give them on themselves, I often think do the kids respect the dad bieng so f….g useless?. I ain’t no snob lived in a caravan as a kid with sweet f.a. But fit and healthy young lads that sit about all day don’t make sense to me.

I’m not disagreeing with any of that mate, I’m definitely not saying I’m right, everyone else is wrong in any way at all…..I’m simply sharing my own personal philosophy on these type of things.

Some things you can’t buy….no matter how much to earn….as in no amount of money can pay for it.

Someone mentioned Bill Gates, well with that 10 million a day he can’t buy 5 minutes ago….just cant !

He can’t buy any sports day he missed with the kids (if the horrible looking c**t even has kids)…..he can’t buy the day he never took off in order to just sit in the garden with his family and just soak up being around them……he can’t buy any of that….its impossible !

I bet anyone on this thread who has lost someone really special in their lives would give up everything and live in a tent if it meant they could sit in a chair in the garden next to that person, hold their hand and soak up the sun and tell them how much they mean for just one more day.

I loved chasing a pound note when I was young, worked morning, noon and night, always switched on and always hungry…..then my first child was born and I decided that no matter what I earned I couldn’t earn time.

By all means, I’m as impressed by a switched on lad as the next bloke, more power to their elbow but I’d say to anyone (especially lads in middle age onwards) never forget some things have a price and some things have a value….always stick with value.

Dead right....that has literally just happened to me.....long drive home today from down south ....busting my hump for 3 weeks...Mrs called me half hour from getting home....why don't you come straight to the park ...kids are playing from just finishing school....f**k me I thought...I just want to get home...but I went of course....and of course I'm glad I did loads of kids playing...its a beautiful park and in a beautiful little village...my boys runs over for a hug ....as does my grandson....my boy is then telling me one of the notts forest players is on the park with his family surrounded by kids asking for autographs...and i actually thought in a few years time I won't be doing this...because they will have all left school...

Like you say you can't buy that...beautiful day beautiful village...kids playing on the park...some kids have a game of football...

Priceless really

Your age means nothing people will always try and make money I know a eighty year old gentleman that’s a millionaire he still looks for that investment I wonder why every time I visit him maybe he’s thinking of his loved ones

1) Hard graft coupled with common sense, 2) speculate to accumulate, 3) you get nowt for nowt so be aware.

2) & 3) involves c**ts trying to earn money from 1), hoping for lack of the common sense.

Now, that’s a more profound thing than you may know mate and one I actually have personal experience of……an old boy who I worked for for 7 years taught me a lot, in many ways he gave me my proper start because he let me buy him out.

Now this old boy had maybe 4 million in cash at the bank at the time I bought him out, was absolutely mental about grafting to the point of sociopathic….im not exaggerating, it’s just a fact.

It was only me and him worked together in those 7 years, nobody else could cope with him including his sons…..nobody knew how I managed it but to me it was f**k all.

Anyway, we would chat on our journeys in the van as you do and he  said to me a couple of times “I wish I’d give more time to my family instead of working”…..

Now when I bought him out and he retired (or tried to) everyone around him was already gone….off doing their own thing, his kids, his wife, everyone !……he had put them second for so many years that he became obsolete in their life.

All he had was work…..work and 4 million quid, nothing else !……and when his phone didn’t ring anymore because everyone knew I’d bought the firm he was lonely and bored…..but mostly just lonely !
So he did the only thing he knew, he went back to work and was working until his eighty’s !
He bought the big gaff in Spain, tried that, didn’t like it because then he was just alone again except in the sun !
So he sold that and bought a boat but the only lad that gos on it with him is a mutual friend and work contact….to this day !
f**k that…..not for me I’m afraid.

Moments of joy mate can’t put a price on that!
I’m blessed that ten years hard graft carried me through the 3 bad years of addiction and pain and chaos now 18 months down the line I’ve still got work that pays very very well I can graft all week do my recovery get kids every weekend and take time of to work dog come winter

Used to be far more driven but was another addiction to work then the ego comes in then it becomes to much and burns to the ground

simple life now and fully present when I have the kids watching them grow up they don’t need hundred spent on them or care what car dad drives or how many houses are in the portfolio or if it’s dubia or Whitley bay not yet anyway and they be taught and encouraged that that not the aim in life either

Life don’t look for happiness sunshine and roses it’s hard graft with its ups and downs but with those moments of joy in a park or at the swimming pool or out for a walk makes the battles worth it

I personally think it’s a good thing for lads to dream and have ideas about investing or business ideas it tends to spark curiosity and push people in to looking in to things or maybe trying things I also think it’s a good thing to have people round you who support any ideas you may have and push you to succeed and keep the negative people and there opinions to one side

god loves a trier right short time living long time dead!

" good thing to have people round you who support any ideas you may have "

Bollocks to that give me someone who knows their shit and will make my money work for me......do you want to make money or have your ego stroked.

As regards all the other stuff family and suchlike.....different type of riches.....one has no bearing on the other in my opinion.

You have to be a slave to get in the monies, even the top earners, many work all number of hours to put food on the table.

It's all what you're comfortable with isn't, no matter the bollocks of here about being a slave, people have mortgages and bills to pay, I don't think most people go to work for the fun of it, I don't, I'd jack in tomorrow if I could.
