I have a large bronze statue that I picked up around 10/15 years ago when I was running trucks for scrap metal house clearances etc never thought much of it apart from it was to good to scrap so it’s been sat in my lockup since,as I,m selling the house thought it would be good to start selling off a few unwanted items but the more I look and show people the more excitement seems to be generated I have done a google reverse image search and this is the nearest thing to it, I fact it’s almost identical even the signature, so is it a missing gem and how do I get someone serious to talk about it, everyone I speak to just tells me to email a picture and they will get back to me but I think it may be a little more desirable than that, this one is in the national museum of Scotland mine is almost identical even the signature, so what do folks recon and we’re is the best place to have it properly inspected and valued

Have it valued at an auction house .

Cheers.

It’s booked in but not for a couple of weeks and advise I have been getting is it needs to be looked at by a specialist in Asian antiquities as opposed to a general auctioneer think it’s a bit like a specialist heart surgeon over your local gp

ARTUK.ORG

Sho-Kannon* by Ichimasa Kogawa (active 1787), 1787, from National Museums Scotland

Cheers Arry

That’s all I could find as well mate, seems very little about it apart from that one that’s in a museum that keeps on popping up

You can get an online valuation at Sotheby's free mate just send some pictures and details its normally quite accurate.....they used to have a minimum consignment of 3k in London so might not be for them.....auctions are not always a good gig though ive sold wine through Sothebys and not got as much as i could of got from a private collector just depends how quick you want shot of it really.......quite exciting really aint it not knowing if its worth 10 grand or 10 bob 😂...let us all know how it go's mate.

There’s Sworders in Stanstead but I don’t know if they are only fine art.

They do online valuations and the director is a good hunting lad into the bargain ;)
