Fck off I genuinely want to learn I'm not having 25 thl spackers walking behind us taking the piss 🤣🖕

Just my opinion, but bringing family into arguments , by ANYONE, is an absolute no-no. Cheers.

Not judging by the amount of Fanny’s on here ?

A melonistic leopard mate same as all the black cats we see in the countryside

Am i right in thinking " melonistic " is the opposite to albino ?......ie,instead of lacking pigmentation theres too much of it ?

Surely theres got to be a seriously large population of regular leopards in the countryside to get such genetic freaks as melonistic/albino ?......seems a bit far fetched to me.

If two melanistic leopards mate, all the offspring will also be melanistic.

i don't think that is correct, it's not always the case

I'm certainly not an expert on genetics, I got it from here;

And even if two spotted leopards that carried the melanistic gene mated, some of the offspring could be melanistic.

Yes i know mate same as 2 albino's will create an albino etc

My point being 1 genetic freak within a small population of leopards hiding in the countryside seems far fetched......2 would just be impossible.

Certainly interesting, even if I don't fully understand it lol.

Genetics has never really been 'my thing.'

But if two melanistic leopards were to breed in our countryside, the chances are their offspring will also be melanistic.

It's all in the genetics  which I don't, and don't claim to, fully understand lol. 👍

I could be wrong here, but don’t he black uns come mostly from a similar area, an that’s where they caught loads from to use in the pet trade, don’t even know where iv heard that but it does make sense, to me anyways haha

I know what you're saying mate but 1 genetic freak within a small hidden away population of leopards in the countryside is hard to believe......2 .....and for them 2 to then find each other, would surely mean numbers wise theres got to be normal regular leopards on every other street corner

I normally stay out of these debates as ive no real clue what im on about its just too hot to go outside

I think you are correct, katch.

I've read similar, a lot of melanistic leopards coming from the malay peninsula.
