chartpolski 27,897
News yesterday that the UK gave £80 million in overseas aid to China last year, and £50 million this year. Whenever the Aid budget is discussed, the left, and people like Theresa May throw up their hands in horror and say it should be increased , not decreased. I’d ask then one question; how do they think a referendum asking “ should we give aid to China or spend that money on building homes for, and taking care of homeless veterans” would go ? Cheers.

Some of us do grasp it, but sadly most can’t see past the status quo. The Tories are incompetent, so people will vote for the establishment alternative, Labour , who will be no better, probably worse. I honestly can’t see what I can do personally; i’m retired, so I can’t withhold my labour, about the only thing I can do is vote for a person or a party that most reflects my views, most likely Reform. The establishment is to entrenched in every aspect of our lives now, we’ve sleepwalked into giving in to them. Nothing much effects my way of life, and sadly, most of the young not only accept what’s happening, but are happy with it ! So I can’t see things getting better. Cheers. 2

Another gammon trigger. If life were just so simple....... We don't actually give aid to China in the way that u imagine, rather we invest, mainly in UK companies to work with China with an eye to our future profits and call it aid. The UK’s aid engagement with China (including July 2021 update) - ICAI ICAI.INDEPENDENT.GOV.UK In truth a large proportion of our "international aid" is spent in the UK or as an investment in future profits. The gammon mentality that cannot look beyond the most simple headline to reality is a real drag on the country.

Evidently some of the aid to China was to fund Marie Stopes clinics to help abort Chinese children . I’d of thought the Chinese would be pretty proficient at that without financial help from the U K……. Cheers. Edited July 14, 2023 by chartpolski

So another scam way of spending the tax payers money, so as to put money into the pocket of shareholders? The Foreign Aid Budget, should be just that, but sadly it appears to be used to grease the wheels for private companies.
