It'd be worth a go on a big res or river but not much point on the canal and I'm on a light setup anyway, the 6lb pike was enough of a fight for my rod....

Many rods nowadays can take big fish mate if played right. But 6lb is a nice fish. In the past I've had mid 20s top 20s. Friend of mine on one of the local water sport lakes has had a 30 plus. Some monsters in this lake. I've had some decent fish out of canal local too.

Nice weather got the boys out they did better than expected, got them hooking maggots and unhooking fish and casting the whip a bit better , a good morning

2 Nights lake exclusive at Cefyn Mably. 4 of us fishing 28 carp caught biggest 21lb 8oz vast majority were low doubles.

Few mile up the road from me...heard that a  42lber came out 2 weeks back...not fished it myself for yrs.

,after he stopped the hunt going across the place..used to help myself to the barbel from his snake lake...let them go in the rhumney river

Yes mate common from the lodge lake, looks a bit smaller than 42lb in the pics but the publicity helps them I suppose. Going back for a few days in August, been 3 times previously in the lodges with the wife not everyone's cup of tea but it makes a nice change from a bivvy and Ive always done well with fish up to 29lb.

My boy and his mate were chucking lures, yesterday down the lock next to the Warfe, Cardiff bay ....had these,and reckons he lost a 20 lber at the net

Just got back from work and my boys stood on the end of my boat within minutes he shouts he’s in so I go out and start snapping but the fish had other ideas and jumped out his arms and back in the water lol managed one snap before it launched off lucky not a biggie
