3-10gm rod, 1000 reel, 0.13 braid, with mono leader or trace with tiable wire 10lb , and then a selection of soft plastic lures on a jighead hook, straight retrieve or bounced around the bottom.

Cheers pal fancy a crack at this myself. Never done a great deal of fishing. And I think this would suit me for a bit of sport on the canals near me

Tbh never really done much fishing. Been sea fishing on a boat a few times snd enjoyed that . Went tope fishing off Scotland in a tiny boat and really enjoyed that. Pottered about with the dogs poaching a few trout , my old collie cross used retrieve the fish back. But I do fancy the this soft lure or spinning for pike lark. As not reliant on bait and on the move rather than stationary would suit me better . Got a little telescopic pike spinning kit , would that be suitable to start ? Any advice welcome thanks .

I've ordered sum lures and stuff from Temu. Are you better with a flurocarbon or wire trace as a leader ? Cheers mate

The pike set up I have , the reel came with 15lb braid on. Is that too much for soft lure fishing

If there's no pike about, then I would use the fluro for trout,perch,chub-the wire you can buy today too make your own traces/leaders is supper supple and behaves the same as the fluro👍15 lb braid should be ok,maybe get some in 8/10 lb for the super lite lures,it's a great way to fish your always moving and busy, cover lots of ground, highly addictive 😁DSC_7219.JPG.621156b42c2331d29abf663711adcade.JPGDSC_7220.JPG.aeca6aa4c79705dfb75cffd09181c296.JPG

It’s my local canal system, so am assuming there is pike. I had a dabble the other day with this lure and the 15lb braid on with wire tracer.probably me , but that lure seemed to light to cast ? Is that normal ?

What rod you using? The super lite lures ,work best with a little baitcaster type reel from personal experience,or you want a 1000/2000 size fixed reel with say 6/8 lb braid.5g-30 g rod..... little trick is to use backing underneath and attach the braid, you want about 50/60 yards, not put on too tight so it imbeds into itself and causes you bird nests👍

Need a lighter rod mate, or even lighter line will help ye get it a bit further, for little lures tho ye want a little rod with a real light casting weight
