Saw this posted on a group on fb; was going to pop it in the fishing section but thought a few others may like it because of the use of dogs. 

It's a good little YouTube channel and has a.video of Slapton/torcross and seine netting on chesil aswell

I remember as a kid watching a bloke hunting for lobster with a hooked bar under rocks and in rock holes.

Yeah I've got one for lobster and edibles, similar to a gaff but with no point

Not far from there these are on the wall in the pub ,been out once with a local fella and his lurcher and terrier pretty mad but a good day.

Fair play that  was a good watch and nice to see the dogs marking , sometimes forget how versatile the terrier can be

Fished Kilve for ray and smuts but never been in the pub. Shame the channel only produces small eels

I did glatting with grandad and my uncles in the mid 60s. I did rayballing and elvering right up to the late 1990s when eel numbers plummetted.

Rayballing?

I've never seen the numbers of a species collapse as quickly as eels. They used to be in every waterway. I believe they are now so rare that smuggling elvers into the far East, where it is a delicacy ,is more lucrative than drugs.

A friend of mine used to fish commercially for eels. He used to thread worms with wool and plonk them over the side of his boat. The eels would swallow the worms and he would pull them into the boat. I think he called it 'blebbing'.
