My lads had a bumper year from the bees

Some amount of honey he's harvested,and he's given away about a third as much in the last few days

i love that stuff i do, i remember years ago in greece, i got in we a family out in the sticks, they had bees, but there honey was out this world

Thats most kind of you mate,  my daughter works for a company here in wivenhoe. its a farm i think, they do there own honey, and she gets me some occasionaly

Not cheap stuff Jig, they clean up at the country fairs selling their jars of honey, I hope to start the bee keeping soon, do you get much beeswax?

I buy my honey from an old boy round the corner has a few hives in his back garden, I also get bees wax off him to make cream, he always has blocks of bees wax so I guess it’s a huge byproduct, interesting bee fact, back in the old days the bees wax was more valuable than the honey

Excellent yield, Jigs

We are allowed to have hives on our Allotments but you need to have done the bee keeping course. The council would pay for the course at one time, but not now.

Also, you need the agreement of every other allotment tenant, and there's at least one who would never egree.

I think there's also some rules about netting surrounding the hives being a certain height.

I fancied it at one time, but decided it was too much hassle.

I bought some last yr,from a place alongside the river Wye...cost me £14 a jar best stuff I've had,came with a chunk of honeycomb in with it

A chap near me had his house burnt down in the heatwave a month or so back. He lost everything including 2 hives of bees. 

Someone said there were about 140.000 bees but i can't be certain about that.

Wouldn't mind doing a beekeeping course, always been fascinated by them since I was a kid and saw the beekeeper on Tales of the unexpected.
