Can ferrets become too soft?

I got some kits and they're very friendly apart from the occasional nip. I'm worried my gf is going to make them too soft is this a thing or will their instincts kick in as soon as they're near a rabbit hole?

You want them soft , friendly its no fun if they latch on to you in a dead end when your trying to pull out a rabbit

Absolutely not you can never handle ferrets to much the more the better ours are constantly handled and they work great

Softer the better and more comfortable they are the better. Save all that messing about in holes

Handle them as much as you can ,kids are a great help as they play with them from young kits ,no one wants a biter

Never some of my ferrets are handled by my kids and kids in the street and even walked on a lead. But when taken out for the hunt they are a different animal and go for the hunt and do very well.
