Re North Shield fish quay, the period between it becoming redundant and derelict and then reborn, often took the dogs. For rats, not many to be honest and very difficult to bolt. But there was a canny population of feral cats at the time.

Did you ever go upriver a little at low tide ratting the sleck (mud)?Used to do it at night in Sunderland at low tide,decent numbers of rats around.

on a train once.......i was asleep with drewl coming out of my mouth down my suit front ..and iwoke up to see this beautiful woman in front of me with a look of pure disgust on her face...and she had white spittle in the corners of her mouth....

which was not pretty....
