Devon was a stronghold for Buzzards and they're still common, not many Kites yet though.

I thought I saw a kite over the tamar a few years ago and then thought I was just hoping it was one but a few weeks ago a lad photographed one over lopwell so maybe they are here.

Have seen the odd one over Bristol for the last 3/4 years and last spring found my first nesting pair, like those green parakeets they are getting closer all the time and if you don’t already have them you will soon ??

Funny you say that gm, I couldn't remember seeing one for years but saw 2 in the last week and one of the spots we fished alot last year had a pair everytime we went

Remember the number 7 thing and nature, birds seem to disappear and re appear in the same cycle, have not had a green finch in my garden for years, used to be common, recon about 2 more years and they will return ?

There are loads by me, and kites too, it used to be a special thing to see a bird of prey when I was a kid, now they are like crows

I think if we could remove our subjective human views of beauty and view things purely from an ecological/conservation point of view buzzards really would be seen as little different to crows.

They are a pretty crap bop in all honesty, look the part but more interested in road kill and worms supplemented by the odd myxied rabbit, but I guess like the humble rat they all have a place in the eco system even if we don’t know what it is or have changed things so much they are obsolete ??

Agree on all points mate.

I saw one try to take a adult rabbit once, it got one buckaroo and decided it was over matched. I suspect it was a young bird still figuring out it's capability.

Seen my first kite down here last summer.. was over the garden and woods behind us for 10 mins or more...

Once you get along the M4 around reading and onwards there are more kites than buzzards...

See sparrow hawks and kestrels most days, lots of buzzards, was nice to see the kite hope he's about again this summer.
