I played for Barnsley academy up to the age of 16 and in all honesty I hated every minute of it. I think that is part of the reason why I never put on a pair of boots competitively since. I'm not a fan, but yes, I remember him. I live on an estate where Newcastle bought a lot of houses for their players a long while back. Ray Thompson the Kit Manager lives next door to me, and John Anderson lives behind me. So Newcastle United is a big part of life in this area, you can't avoid it ! LOL ! Just hated the pressure and expectations if I'm being honest from what I remember.
