Last I looked into an apprentice ,the hoops to jump through were massive .Upping my insurance to 10 million ,setting up a pension ,days off for training at college  paid by the builder .In house training because they might be under 21 .Binned that and took on a stubby instead used to graft .

id say timber framed are even worse quality than traditional build, seen some right shite over the years!

if the timber sections aren't right you either  end up with no cavity or told to build them out of plumb to maintain the correct cavity...

id rather spend me money on a caravan than that crap!

That's a fair one I wouldn't know how they could compete with build quality but I was thinking more of the construction costs. Timber has to be cheaper but I can't imagine that the final price of the house will be much cheaper than a brick and mortar alternative.

they probably do come in cheaper but I cant see it being much as its all crane work, thinks its more about environment and u- values that gets them through planning!

dont think id be able to seep in one when you see how there knocked up... dodgy wiring and wood dont mix and plastic pluming makes a right mess when it fails!

About ten years ago a site i was working on i was asked to build some steps up to the front door of this house, now from the pavement to the bottom of the door was a height difference of about 6 feet, it was on a steep hill and the houses were stepped terraces, Anyway i finished the steps which consisted of two pavers side by side on brick steps going up to the door. I had finished them and was working on another area of the site when the site manager came and said you will have to alter the steps Health and safety officer wants them changing, so i went off to see what the problem was, when i asked the HSE guy whats the problem he said its the overhang on the front of the paver i pointed out its the drip it was 30mm for water to clear the brickwork. He then said anyone using a zimmer frame may catch the rubbers on the overhang. I told him if anyone with a disability bought on of these houses they needed their head testing, just like you , you cupid stunt. Gods honest truth i kid you not this really happened.
