"I can accept their argument from a well researched POV with undeniable evidence. I cannot reliably act on it as I do not have an affordable alternative" ~ Chris

"The facts are in and we're changing the law. Pay up you gullible f*cks" ~ Europe

People are dying because of it, but instead of removing the massive government subsidies (the US is closer to $52bn) that prevent the market from regulating the price we're left in the hands of the powers that be. We've proven we can run both countries on renewables. We've got the technology to make emissions practically zero yet we have an institution that constantly blocks this and bills us at every step of the way... Funny how we've gone from a computer the size of an average warehouse to one in the pocket yet the power source for all of this hasn't changed in 200 years. I think the majority would switch tomorrow if they could afford to.

Can we have less of that talk on this thread please, I work in research in that outdated energy industry! You'll put me out of work.

I have several woodburners I,m in a smokeless zone yet I live just outside of avonmouth, my kids went to school in one of the 20 worst air quality schools in the country and most blokes  round here di

Everybody was advised back in the day to get rid of smelly coal fires and start using clean cheap easy gas/electric. Coal fires died a death and then the powers that be gradually ramped the prices up

Disconnect, refuse to acknowledge their data mate.......it’s f***ing nonsense. A complete refusal to acknowledge any type of buffoonery (no matter how well backed up by science) is the very first

No rebuttal from the honourable gentlemen, on the information? :hmm::laugh:

Joking aside I don't think either society is ready for the massive upheaval that would stem from a short-term drastic shift of that magnitude. Concentrating on fireplaces and ignoring everything else is typical House of Commons.

I honestly have no vested interest. I make it quite clear that I am only too happy to find another employer/career.

I've got to a good section in that book I started reading(.....a year ago, lol). About the scientific revolution and how capitalism (and empire) has been and is the main driver behind technological progress. I really do love the book.

The mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991 released more harmful gas/smoke/toxic chemicals into the atmosphere than every fire since the dawn of time

250 mile wide cloud of ash and gas hung over the area,i flew over the place a few years later massive area of deep ash called lahar, nowadays its a tourist attraction with lahar treks.

I'm not surprised you feel that way with the government's history of commissioning scientific studies on a subject to then ignore the findings or fire the author if the conclusion doesn't support their already decided on policy! I hate how politics is conflated with science.

That's a fair one, mate. I'm firmly in the camp that if you can show me a better way that's no heavier on my wallet I'll generally follow you to the next fork in the road.

The fact is, there are 98 gazillion cars in the world, industrial chemical plants, lakes in China like something out of 2000AD and Chernobyl but nah......2lb of cut up pallet on your front room fire is what’s going to do for you !!

Mate, I’m never ever going to acknowledge nonsense like that.

Wilf I don't listen to any cnut facts and figures can be bent and twisted to fit any agenda

But surely burning wood is better than burning gas.....wood is renewable, as it grows its taking more carbon out of the air than what it releases once burnt?

I'm fitting a stove at the minute. If my door on the stove is well sealed how am I exposing myself to pollution? Surely it's all the other poor mugs on my street that are getting polluted? I will be the only one on my street with a log burner so I should be fine? Fck em ?

All that shit that went up the Auschwitz chimney must have have done serious damage to the environment.

Sneaky German fuckers probably had 'cheat devices' to avoid failing emissions tests. Bet that's how it all started for the VW scandal! :whistling:
