back when I started a long long time ago ,saluki was introduced direct to peoples existing lurchers to improve coursing ability, but little did they know just how important these crosses would become

I’ve always worked off the principle that if a animal was bred for a specific purpose the pups will be genetically predisposed to gravitate towards that purpose, actually catching game in this ca

breading the ideal lurcher is a tricky one to say the least, some want this some want that etc etc,, not to big not to small, with coursing dogs it was slightly easier because its more of a specialist

might do mate,  it prob just drop the bone down a bit from the Alsatian  . you deff get good wind from them, not just because of the saluki  ,  gsd   have good wind and pace , like  collies do , ive always thought  that the gsd  just like big collie in lot of ways, but more grit in them. prob a good coursing type dog would throw better pups  , or like been said back to greyhound  still get not bad wind  plenty of pace , and better feet/coat  than any pure greyhound  , like most 3/4 breds have what ever the the x .!. would like to see these dogs  out of interest  and if they ever worked  .?

Ray I believe going back to any serviceable lurcher or with Buck will produce the goods he that way made and most importantly bred the welps from him will retain his physical attributes at the very least ,lots to be said at times for a tunnel vision grey ,thrust I call it prey drivehe will produce a very level type fast and serviceable jukels with good strength  I would try one again with out asecond thought  these days finding big numbers with out excessive travelling ain't possible ta me so versatility ta me counts they'll have fifty runs in em easily .plus size and bulk will decrease making them more suited da the single jukel ma that wants ta run abit a fast land fast game..I have no single pics of my three quarter aptly named tigger but he had the pace ta catch the fastest if our edible day or night and he were not the fastest welp of the litter by a long shot.has you know the f1his fast in comparison to some base types.atb bill

just a thought ,  what people's preference  in using a pure sight hound, greyhound, saluki, deerhound  , whippet   to start a line   to get a lurcher  using  in the dam or sire, or just go straight to lurcher x lurcher  to get a lurcher pup . ive got 2   1xs    , collie x grey , and gsd x grey  , both are good dogs , had plenty of rabbits  with them day and night , both are fast for there type of breeding , agile  , and not bad  stamina , and both have been very easy to train . ive had lurcher x lurcher   bitch who was great  hunting dog , good day and night , plenty of rabbits and good on foxes and few hares in the day, this was back in the 80s. so  i know that some lurcher x lurcher , make very good hunting dogs, get the right breeding  from proven parents  . if i ever get another lurcher in the future , i like a dog pup out of Buck, maybe to nice   whippet x grey type bitch  with drop of bull in there  , as ive always liked lurchers with drop of bull in the mix, but no hurry  wait  when old Bryn gone , the old bugger fit for his age   lol  could  be  3years away  and Buck will be my last big  dog , now i am getting older lol .  just a thought  as i was talking to a mate about lurcher's  couple months back  as you do lol , and it came up   this subject  .

go for a first x beddy/grey mate it be just what you looking for ?lol
