In this case you may be oķ but it can be a can of worms if work is done and then the other party won't pay. If you then go to your Insurance company they wash their hands of it. A young woman backed into  my parked car and owned up. The next day her dad came to see me and accused mè of exaggerating  the damage. He said that i had subsequently backed intò something . He then said that he would get the car repaired. Considering his attitude and the fact that there were witnesses I told him that it was going through the Insurance. He wasn't  at all happy about this.  He said that he would give me the insurance details the next day. He didnt do this. It turned out that he was a  bacķstreet south london car dealer. The car was a sale car used by his Mrs who let it to the daughter who didnt know where reverse was and that's why she backed into my car. He played up a d wouldn't give his insurance details to  my insurance company stating that the event didn't happen. I had to sign papers to take him to court by the insurance company before he admitted liability. My insurance fitted a new back door on my car by a proper repair company.  I don't know what happened on his side. He was a right Arthur Daley merchant.

Even getting it repaired by a proper repair company  i always think a bash is a death sentence for a older car as it can start so many problems later on

thats not good meece,the old dear offered to take me to the cash point i said no,ive spoke to her again this morning she is giving up driving the car is getting repaired and her grandaughter is taking it

It's good if it can aĺl be sorted out amicably and no one takes advantage of the situation. Another situation is where someone gives you a false address, a false mobile number and the number plate doesent match the vehicle. If you get clattered by a p***y try your luck with a claim.

FairPlay to you for been a gent about it,  I really hope it doesn't come back and bite you in any way as that would be undeserved.

one good thing about insurance companies, they have the clout behind them, and everything is on record.

 

a few yrs ago, whilst reversing into my drive (lwb crew cab tipper) a near neighbour came down the hill and tried getting a five foot wide car through the 4ft gap,  the traffic coming the other way had stopped, but she was looking down at her feet, she looked up and I saw her throw a mobile in the passenger side, hit the brakes and then hit my truck.

after making sure everyone was ok, I noticed the phone on passengers seat, on the text message screen, a half written text in the writing box.

next day her boyfriend came round, said accident was my fault and demanded £500 cash, muppet, I told him where to go and i was looking for my truck repaired at her expense, either cash or insurance.

i had already called my insurance and told them, my truck went for an estimate, £1300, so I gave them the opportunity to pay for it.

her car was a rotten and rusted out polo with many dents, bumper hanging off, you get the pic.

in the next few weeks I px'd my tipper for a new one as it was, no repair.

i then had a phone call from her insurance company, she had claimed she was stopped and I run into the back of her, I put them straight, and gave them my insurance details as they had my report and witness statements.

when my renewal came round, they wanted £500 no claims to be paid for the accident, and the policy had jumped up by 1k, I said boloocks,it wasn't my fault, my truck was never repaired, nor was her car.

turns out my insurance had just paid her claim without looking into it, I said tough titties, that's your fault not mine.

 

after a couple of years arguing, emails, letters, phone calls, my insurance admitted they had made a mistake, sent me a letter confirming this, re instated my no claims, and all was good in the world, except I could not get the grand extra I had paid out the following year due to having an accident !

 

i had moved on by this time so I didn't bother to pursue it, but vowed to never use axa ever again due to it.

 

it just goes to show what stories and lies folk will make up, and how you need to cover your own arse at all times.

its always best to cover your self,but in this case it was a genuine pensioner,and her son come around this afternoon to pay for the work ,and brought me a case of beere I don't drink so my mate got it good result for helping some one out

Im always wary  a student  ran into a pal in the works van and when his renewal came up , Have you had a accident in the last five years that wasn't your fault ? You got to answer yes and  be truthful as they pass information between insurance companies and my mate got clobbered on his own insurance

Correct. A mong kept driving into my towbar while he was trying to park. Mashed the front of his car but not a scratch on mine. He reported it to his insurance and I didn't as there was no damage. Next renewal it was on my policy schedule as a "claim".
