The thing is he has admitted he fukced up did wrong shouldn't have done it ... he hasn't tried to justify what he did hasn't tried to excuse himself ... but he was on his 6th yes 6th tour of Afghanist

Sentence reduced to 7 years for manslaughter so will be freed within 2 weeks ..........

And you'd never stand in front of an enemy force on a battle field either would you ......

Well look it up joe berore you comment , and don't comment if you know fuc all about it

You and fecin Larry would get married ,pair of twats !

So i take it if an afghan shot a member of your family in the same way you would say "it's war" x

he was going to die anyway jo so I think he did the guy a favour

awful good of him, he might get a job in Nhs when he gets out

he would have bled out in the hospital corridor waiting for a doctor if the nhs were involved

i was thinking more for pain relief for the elderly

no your thinking of shipman not blackman

Same result either way surely? Murder is murder in my eyes sorry if that offends anyone x

I'm not offended in the slightest.

But neither am I naive ! If you pick a fire fight with one of the world's elite military units, you can expect consequences......for me, it's THAT simple !

What part of the law are you not getting.??

If a burglar broke into your house tonight and you caught him, tied him up and tortured him before stabbing him to death I'd agree with what you done but you know the law was going to f**k you right up.

No doubt plenty laws are needing changed..??

Ah, but if he was sentenced, then served the time and got released, would you say he needed to go back in for longer?

Lab, i entirely "get" where Sgt. Blackman's detractors are coming from.......I just think they're wrong !

In an ordinary situation, I would probably agree with them - but this was a far from ordinary situation, so 'ordinary' rules shouldn't apply.

Has anyone on here actually said that he should go back in for longer?

I certainly didn't, in fact in my first post I said his sentence seemed about right considering his mental illness.

At the end of the day the law saw sence and he has the backing of millions of British people

No one really cares what those think who would have rather the taliban fighter received the best medical care so he could return to his country to rape or even carry out a Westminster style attack

If he has done the time then that's it. Whatever the judge says he should do he must do it and get on with it.

It's a shite position to be in but he put himself in it.

Been thinking more about it and at purely a guess I say some of the army lads that don't condone his actions might be pissed off that he has done it and they have had to hold back.

So if he was to walk away scot free I can see the rule book being thrown out th window.

Do you know what the Geneva convention is? x

Do you?

You do realise he wasn't prosecuted for breaking the GC right?

Yes it something that doesn't always work in real life situation

Its also something that if strictly adhered to could be the difference between wining and loosing

Do you think the likes of the taliban or the Russians give a shit about it

I'm afraid it is an ordinary situation on a 'battlefield'. That's what the signed up to I'm afraid.

If you however asked me to vote on changing those rules I would.

But laws will never change if people don't express their outrage when laws are needing changing...
