DogMan85 722
Maybe running to those extremes uncovers any heart defects someone was born with? I used to run for Yorkshire until around 16 year old and it is very taxing on the body, I can't imagine the stress a marathon puts on someone. THE STIFFMEISTER 17,552
A lot of first time runners are in shit state at their first event, wether it's adrenaline , nerves or the actual distance at race pace I don't know I'm running on Tuesday for the first time since xmas and I'm dreading it but a few weeks in should be good again Running isn't a pleasant activity for me , I prefer hiit and crossfit style stuff mate ced with sprints than endurance nowadays A couple of years ago I ran my best half marathon time in a spur of the moment entry to run against my mate, I'd done nothing over 4 miles in about a year and instead followed a rigid cross fit regime My fell runner mate ran 1 32 ish I ran 1 20 dead RunnIng is sadly a necessity of my life, I detest it , its f****d my back , my left ankle was always f****d but now so is my right, now my knees are beginnings by to go, time to burn those sauconys I think or trade them for a nice set of squash shoes! Although sometimes on a Saturday, when the wife's asleep and the rain is spitting, sometimes having by the woods to yourself and the earphones is too much to resist

.357shooter 1,382
it is true running is very bad for you with todays footware.to see how you should run try running bare feet on a beach and see where abouts the impact points are on the sand ie not in the place your trainers make you concentrate the stresses of the impact
Malt 379
You wouldn't catch me running unless I had to get away from something at a speed quicker than walking pace, that's the only biological reason for a human doing so! F**k running!

walshie 2,804
If God had meant us to run he'd have given us legs. Oh hold on.....
THE STIFFMEISTER 17,552
Seriously you'll be amazed at the levels of fitness a 20 30 min circuit a day can give you in a month When I mean circuits I don't mean Lycra clad instagram shit I mean serious compound liftsmixed with a savage cardio finisher My favourite is a 3 burpees then sprint on the minute every minute The gyms outside, you don't need to join!!
socks 32,253
Running even small distances over many many years will have a detrimental effect on your joints ... factor in carrying weight over rough terrain whilst wearing boots and your body's got no chance lol ... I spent 22 years doing that shit fukc running now ..........
C556 351
When I was last running it was on the balls of my feet on grass as I don't have very good joints. Now I use low impact cardio machines at the gym as they're far more forgiving on the knees. If my joints continue to go downhill as I get older I'll take up swimming.
