Health & Safety ............ Ffs

I worked on a rig where knives were banned. You would have to go to the OIM and request a cutting tool which you would have to sign out for your job. They were so zealous over HSE that someone was spotted cutting a bread roll towards himself using a bread knife and we had a foul mouthed announcement over the tannoy that if this happened again they would confiscate all knives from the galley :laugh::laugh:

I hated working in the North Sea, we had to do risk assessments for everything and there was something called STOP tours where you had to walk around looking for unsafe things or acts. As we had a unit that we worked inside every man and his dog would always do theirs on us so they didn't have to be outside. As soon as they had finished drilling the well and were preparing to move the rig safety would go out the window because the oil company wanted to save money and get everyone off the rig so the whole thing was pointless.

'No blame cultures' where grassing is actively encouraged..., and even measured.

H&S, and the huge cost burden associated with is, will be the death of British industry.

Scientists in America have concluded that the interior cheese of a mozzarella dipper is the hottest material to be found on the face of the earth, apparently some form of unexplained nuclear fission is taking place.

Once upon a lifetime ago I tried a real job when I was a kid, so I was working on an oil refinery doing NDT.......the firm I worked for was your normal fecking northern skinflint type outfit, massively thick and over hot flame retardent overalls, cheap as f**k glasses that cut the tip of your f***ing nose off, hard hats that they issue to Paki concrete workers.......you know the gig.

Well this was a Mobil refinery and I found out who was in charge of their stores and it happened to be a bird.......anyway, I trot off in my own and find her and after a couple of visits I get her straitened out........f**k me, you should see the kit they had!! State of the fecking art......soft leather gloves, really cool shades, lightweight overalls that actually had some style, riggers hard hats with soft linings, and every accessory known to man......you name it, they had it........and I just used to help myself, f***ing great it was......I looked like a recruiting poster for a cross between top gun and roughnecks !! Lol

The mean little jock c**t who was our guvenor nearly give himself a heart attack trying to work out how I had all this nice kit.......and best of all, my pals mum was one of the cooks in the Mobil staff canteen and I used to eat there as much as I wanted for free while the jock c**t had to eat shit in the contractors canteen and begrudge handing over his £3 for the honour. Lol

f**k him ! Lol

Never had a proper job after that !

I worked a few jobs of Great Yarmouth, we had a helicopter come in and drop off some flat pack stuff. These two guys were struggling to keep the fire doors open and bring this stuff in, I helped them carry the stuff through etc. A day later I was sitting in the morning meetings and the subject got raised by HSE....As he started talking I was expecting for them to say thanks for the help/good teamwork etc...when he said that my actions were dangerous because I wasn't involved in the pre safety discussion....of moving some shit from A to B.

After that I decided that working in a third world terrorist ridden dump was probably going to be more fun....and it was lol
