Straight Bananas!

Recommended Posts

If you look at some of the EU laws, it proves they have nothing better to do than think of stuff to make stupid laws about. Apparently bottled water can't have anything on it that mentions dehydration as the EU boffins hadn't found anything to prove it does help dehydration.

I knew what she meant, the audience knew what she meant, the panel knew what she meant.

But it's still fine for the establishment, media & Co to mock someone who may not benefit from the best education or be confident of speaking in front of a crowd.

Sickening as always

On the BBC news site this morning, a survey saying anyone who voted leave was basically of low intelligence and poorly educated.......would these fuckers get away or even report that muggers in London are mostly black?.....no, I don't f***ing think so.

It is undeniable that there was a definitive correlation to educational status and voting, those with GCSE’s as highest educational achievement more likely to vote leave whilst those with degrees more above likely to vote to stay. But I don’t think it’s about whether people are thick or not but rather that is more a fault of our education systems than the individuals voting and this Banana myth is a case in point

.

A university education teaches better critical thought leading to people realising the euro myths and fake news in general are not real. Alas it would seem standard schooling does not seem to equip people with good critical thinking skills and the ability to consider a little prior plausibility when seeing these sort of stories. This means that people with a vested interest can either created or blow out of proportion stories to achieve a political end and alas fake news/alternative facts are increasingly endemic.

The EU graded bananas for sale, most products have such a system so perfect ones are, say, grade A, it’s a quality grading to allow buyers to know what they are getting, ie supermarkets go for higher grades to sell direct to the public whereas factories producing say a Banana cake can buy misshapen, slightly bruised etc ones at a cheaper price which is just common sense. This then gets blown into a “story” and people don’t think to question it, just a shame really.

Perhaps we should all develop a more skeptical attitude and learn to look for the truth rather than just validation of our beliefs as these two would seem to be mutually exclusive. the reality is that some people look for “evidence” much as a drunk uses a lampost; for support rather than illumination.
