RSVNelly 518
My eye sight is starting to get worse so I'm thinking about getting a scope with better zoom capability, without spending an absolute fortune? I've got two scopes that are a max of 9 I think but I wanted something like an 8-32, any suggestions at all please fellas. Thank you in advance ??????? Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
Isn't 32x a bit overkill for an airgun? Quote Link to post
Rabid 1,936
To be honest, I never really go above 9 or 10, even on the scopes that can. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Isn't 32x a bit overkill for an airgun? It would be overkill on a bloody .338 for me, but seriously at 32 times mag surely anything but the most expensive glass is going to be pretty useless? Quote Link to post
RSVNelly 518
X32 maybe over killing it a bit lol but I'm struggling to see a clear target at the end of Swarland range which is about 55yds and that's with a x12 ??? Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Wouldn't getting higher mag just make it bigger and blurry instead of clearer? I shot a target at 465 yards with my 8x scope and I can't read a newspaper without specs. Quote Link to post
RSVNelly 518
You should be able to zoom in and then focus, in theory, shouldn't you? Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Mine are all fixed power scopes, but they do focus by the ring on the eyepiece. Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
get to the opticians nelly.. x9 is fine I've got higher mag ones but don't go above 9! I've got rid of gucci scopes cos the rec's were so fine that i was straining to focus on both, i find the cheapy hawke easier to use than my more expensive ones ps. have you got the photon sorted ?! atb si Quote Link to post

I don't have anywhere apart from Swarland to really get it sorted Si. There's a 20 meter indoor range but tbh it's not really adequate mate Quote Link to post
philpot 5,119
The problem for me anyway with high mag is that the slightest movement makes target acquisition much harder and if you are free hand shooting.................forget it. Whilst I have MTC Mamba Lite scopes on all but one rifle, I love my MTC Genesis 5-20 x 50 I have on my HW100, nice glass, fine recticle and although my eyesight is not so good now, I have no issue with this scope at all.
