mark williams 7,550
Well lads, the FWB Sport has to be moved on,- I`ll explain later. The classic route is going to be put aside and forgotten , a modern and new gun will be purchased instead. I will be going springer, and I would value your thoughts lads- please. .177 is my preferred calibre, I already shoot the TX 200 MK 3 .177. My initial thoughts are, 1, HW 95 Luxus. 2, HW . 3, HW 77. Thank you for your thoughts . Quote Link to post

Rez 4,957
95. But not the luxus, bit to posh If you have a TX in the smaller caliber, why not go for one of these in the bigger lead... 1 Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
Walther LGV in .177 job done, in fact you might as well get rid of the TX lol, out of the other 3 you mention hw 77 in .177 once tuned. 2 Quote Link to post

Rez 4,957
Just been thinking about this. Don't know why like. Do consider a 98 mate. You've listed two break barrels and one under lever. Cool. The 77 won't take a moderator (I know it will, but basically it's a second thought) the break barrels will. Why not combine the two, but with a adjustable stock? And... Heavy barrel. They look the part too. My 98 in .177, my god. No other words. That 98, v-Mach kit, 11.9 FPE, tight as ya like FT's... Savage. 1 Quote Link to post
PeskyWabbits 464
But Mark, the HW80 is the same era as the FWB Sport and the Hw77 follows closely. The Hw95 is the odd one out, just by being lighter. Why 77 not 97?, Or are you wanting all these with open sights? Quote Link to post
Rez 4,957
If he gets a 97 the TX will be shown the door. After it's been tuned. Obviously. 1 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,357
Shame about the FWB Mark - we all knew you were looking forward to getting out with it Is it worth sticking it in the back of a cupboard until you feel like dealing with it again? I'd say any of the rifles you mentioned would be suitable for hunting but, from what I've read of your posts since I joined, you seem to prefer heavier kit. ..... I'm wondering if you'd find a lighter rifle twitchy? As already mentioned, maybe try a 97 - I'm getting along really well with mine so far Oh, and the TXs are here to stay because, they just cant be bettered 1 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
97, 95 or 99s all three will need a tune in time and all three are better in .22 IMO , although saying that my 97 .177 is very good and only had a home tune Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
I'd go 77 bud. Just ask pianoman... This rifle in.177 can be so sweet. Although a short stroked 98 could be something special, it's not on your list 1 Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
I've always wanted and liked the look of the HW97 KT but have a TX 200 and have owned loads of others so decided on a break barrel for a change. I've gone for a HW80K in .177 and have to say it's lovely in the hands and shoulder. I'm off down the field shortly to zero it up and hopefully run it in. Quote Link to post
