DIDO.1 22,865
How long do I leave it to dry before painting?
Welsh_red 5,061
Leave it till it all goes white . First coat of paint you put on water it down loads and basically consider it a sacraficial coat .

Greyman 32,535
Watered down how much?.i don't bother with the watering down just buy cheap homebrand paint and make sure it's Matt, not silk or vinyl as they form a skin over the plaster which will peel over time
Welsh_red 5,061
Watered down how much? Don't know the ratio to mix it but when we've done painting after skimming we've watered it down a lot. Like someone said on here "like Piss". The first coat will suck into The plaster massively

gnipper 6,900
Is it just skim or is there a thick undercoat like sand and cement that's still wet?
Chid 6,844
Painting it with wall paper paste also works
mattyg 1,862
Noooooooooooooooooooo, don't put paste anywhere near it unless you're gonna sling paper on it. Matt

lanesra 4,007
Do not put paste anywhere near it , coat of vinyl matt watered down 20% , then at least 2 coats of your chosen colour , quality of paint now you may need 3 coats .
Malt 379
As above, piss coat to take the suction out of it otherwise the paint will dry like f**k on the walls before you can spread it evenly..
