mushroom, is it true that gers figures dont tell the full story for scottish tax revunues, as alot of them are listed as accuring in england..if the true figures where available am sure it would be less than 9.7, if we were independent, would could also make different choices from the uk to help put what ever defict right, instead of cutting, investing in the right places

Scotland's budget deficit is around 9%, compared to 4% deficit in the rest of the UK. Scottish deficit is bigger than Greece - and I think we all know what state they're in !

Latest polls show that support for independence has dropped to 39%......

Staunch Yes voter last time...why.? Because I believed we could go it alone and prosper. Looks to me like 'going alone' ment sucking up to Europe and opening th door to every c**t under the sun. If

I went to England once and they were afraid to put their flags up lol. Anybody wanting to break the union up is just as bad as the snp, whatever nationality.

If you want to convert that to real pounds and pence, that a deficit of £2,850 per Scottish person, compared to £850 per person for the rest of us........

To join the EU, you'll need to confirm with 'convergance criteria' - you'll need to have your interested rats irrevocably fixed from outside, and hand monetary policy over to the European Central Bank.

The Scottish economy would have to meet economics condition which show "soundness and sustainability of public finances through limits on government borrowing and national debt, to avoid excessive national deficit."

Now....given that your national deficit is alreqdy higher than Greece (which has been bailed out twice), you won't be joining any time soon.....what you're really looking at is "UK or nowt" - so, you trumpet all you like, and have your little vote, but you're going to lose....AGAIN.

part of the reason we have a difict is because we are part of the uk ffs, our economy is alittle different to greeces... lets nor forget is we had won indpendence years ago we would most likly be running a surplus, arguing to stay in the same broken system thats got us in this mess is mental

Most likely.! You sound like salmon. Maybe. Possibly hopefully. Thats no way to decide a nations future. Oh and i seriously doubt we would have. We would have had to pay off our fair share of the UK debt and oil hit its all time low.

We would still be trying to get into the EU and on top of that pay dues to them.

Anyway i doubt its going to happen its just another ploy by SNP to pander to there support to stay in goverment. Even if they did it would be the same result as before. The majority of scots voted no when we in a better state. No way are they going to go the other way when were in a worst state.

just going round in circles with this. I know you're stance joe and you know mine. We can come back to this if ever it happens until then lets just leave it for now.

i was talking before 2014 mate, most of the prosperous nations are small countrys...

could debate those 2014 issues with you mate, i dont agree with you, but it wont make any difference, yes lost :(

if we get another crack at it, i reckon people will learn from mistkes...

the eu argument will be similar but different lol, membership can be aranged in the time the uk leaves, the eu man in charge of brexit is pro scotland in the eu, there have been other positive stuff come from eu members on scotland staying a member... like in 2014, alittle common sense is required

They want to get on with the job of running the Scotland that exists here and now. Personally I think this is all smoke and mirrors, if I was living there I'd be keeping an eye on the legislation they try creeping in under the radar while indy 2 is hogging all the headlines.

The only words of advice my late dad ever gave me - "The only good thing about banging your head against a brick wall, is that it stops hurting when you stop doing it !"

So, as far as this thread goes, that's what I'm doing.........
