scothunter 12,609
Had two a few year ago. The jill was easy to handle. The hob on the other hand was a c**t. Some days he allowed you to pick him up. Other days sank his teeth into you lol he had head on him like a farmers bull where i am i see loads of pine martins. One was raiding the bird feeder.

If you culled the Jill after a week you would have a load of dead kits lol ... I handled them constantly from as soon as I could ... They are just wild aggressive animals and take the dilution of a few generations to calm them ......

Hydropotesinermis 724
Can I ask what is the point? Why have a ferret you can't handle that is going to breed 4 generations of ferrets you can't handle when you Could just get a domestic ferret you can handle that will breed kits you can handle. If anybody wants him you can have him if you can pick him up bare handed lol ....... I was potato picking in St. Davids a few decades ago and found a nest of Poley kits,i trapped the mother and put her in my Hob ferrets cage, the Poley killed the hob in less than a second.I put the kits in with her and fed them on seagulls for the next fortnight,my rationale was id wean the kits, release the jill and train the youngsters to ferret. The little pykey twat on the same camp that made an hole in the mesh put paid to my endeavour. Many years later i was gifted a Poley half bred ferret, geez it was fast and could kill.
