delswal 3,819
I don't really comment to much on boxing because as an arm chair fan I don't think that qualifies me to pick faults with somebody who has the balls to do what most men would only day dream of doing. Khan like it or not, is recognised as a world class fighter by people more experienced than those who judge him on here, so easy for those on here to say he has a glass chin and he can't take a punch, easy statement to make from an arm chair. The very same chin won a silver olympic medal and made him a multi millionaire. Not to shabby huh for a skinny little Pakistani kid from Bolton. Not to compare as I am not qualified enough, but when Carl Froch knocked George Groves out with a throw away left and a peach of a right hand, nobody commented on Groves chin, but gave Froch all the credit for landing a perfectly timed punch, what was so different about the Alvarez punch, how many fighters would have rolled with that?

Respect to him for winning a silver medal in the olympics, but look at fraudley, he was happy to fight with all the head gear on but filled his trunks when in the pro ranks, not saying Kahn Shiites himself but pro is different to ams, to me Kahn should try mma or something else as he could possibly be good at it with his pure speed alone

No your more than entitled to give an opinion from an arm chair or anywhere else, I simply said it's easy to make a statement from an arm chair, the more opinions on here the better it makes for some of the more interesting debates.

beast 1,884
Khan has heart, is a very talented boxer but just falls short sometimes. The problem with boxing now is most boxers are scared of losing their ' 0 ' only mayweather Jr and marcarnio will have that title. Even the greatest boxers lost nothing to be ashamed of you only get stronger from a loss imho. (unless you are Audley Harrison) Plenty of fighters have retired undefeated but when they are sitting telling their story to the grand children later on in life.......will they hand on heart be able to tell them that they really truly pushed themself to the absolute limit of their ability and seeked out the toughest competition available to them......when all the smoke has cleared a fighter only has himself to answer to.....if he knows he fought the toughest opponents out there and pushed himself beyond his own capabilities then win or lose that is the true glory.....not a nice pretty undefeated record.......i still speak to a man to this day who retired undefeated and he is full of regrets. very true words gnash, not only for boxers but all sportsmen and in fact life in general. i remember reading a brilliant article in the times about 20 years ago when the aussies kept hammering our cricket team, and the writer was talking about the difference between steve waugh and graham hick. his idea was that the good players like hick dont enjoy facing the top opposition because they know its hard and that they may fail, and they just think of it as "getting through the ordeal". whereas true greats like waugh actually relish the challenge of taking on the very best, to test yourself and find out just what you can do, and if you fail then what do you have to do to succeed next time, perseverance and grit and courage. Id not be to bothered about confronting Khan in a ring,or an alley, the others have a better earned and respected fear aspect.Yet for the brass they earn id climb in the ring with a young Mike Tyson, with 3 rolls of scented toilet paper and some tight fitting y fronts.
