Blimey,Manny Burgo theres a name from the past,cracking character.....Garside was a Scouser was he not,or am i getting him confused with Noel Quarless.....Stewart Lithgo,Georgie Scott a few others,Mcrory obviously.....i remember 3 or 4 of us London lads used to go up there for sparring and 3 or 4 of them would come down here once in a while....whenever we was up there we'd end up in a club i forget the name of it now it was a  big boat underneath the Tyne Bridge,you'd probably know the name of it ?....late 80's that would have been.....we all used to stick with Paul Lister as he was a big good looking proper fanny magnet so we all stood half a chance ....funny days,but yes the North East was a hotbed for domestic heavyweight talent back then.

Tuxedo Princess was the boat Remember Lister working on the door in Newcastle too. Dave Garside was Hartlepool way I think. Him and Manny had bigger reputations out of the ring. Long time ago .

Tuxedo thats right....Manny was an unusual chap in many ways,one of which is a bit too crude to go into ......last i heard he was running one of the amateur clubs up there Birtley was it or Rye Hill maybe i cant remember,although that must of been 20 years ago now so maybe moved on since then....i was sad to hear of the passing of Ronnie Rowe back during Covid,lovely fella and a legendary boxing figure up that way i might be wrong but think he might have received an MBE at some point.....shame anyway he was a good person,RIP.

Yeah I heard he had 3 legs Ronnie Rowe was at Birtley, the gym had some trouble there recently and the coach got jail. No idea if Manny is still at Rye Hill or if it's still going.

It was a mismatch. Benn has a juiced up physique and had fought nobody of note in their prime. He's not a patch on his dad.

Eubank has mixed it at world level and is a much bigger man. No surprises who won. 

The while hyped up tale was a joke. 

They both earned millions for being their father's sons. Good look to them.

But I will not be watching the re match. Might as well watch American wrestling.

i enjoyed it both give there all emptied there tank it was a sight for sore eyes especially when you have wank heavy’s cant kno l the skin of a rice pudding running all fight none half empty just there to avoid damage and collect the money this was well needed

old boy i know died few year ago fought a few a them gnash he beat garside and was a good amateur aswell big rough c**t like most were then dozens about could fight for fun

this is another old boy of the estate dead now family friend like most back then loved a fight and drink ended up punch drunk dementia in end young here but they got stuck in compared to now

Id strongly disagree with that....in an era when Youtube boxers and general idiots are making big money fights i thought that Benn/Eubank bout was a breath of fresh air.....not the highest quality fight but not only was it a cracking fight but it was the perfect example of determination,fitness and gameness......i was worried for Eubank going into the last few rounds that fight had disaster written all over it......both lads are chips off the old block as was the fight itself .....Benn was wreckless and aggressive as was his father.....Eubank was fit and durable as was his father......Eubank was just too big for Benn,again as it was with their fathers......two good well spoken well raised lads,not quite silver spoon kids but certainly without the " need " to fight for a living.....just born with a natural urge to do battle what both of them lads have is " breeding "......Eubank will always be too big but i was proud of Conor he gave everything he had and proved he can compete at top level.
