Satinwood Or Eggshell

Recommended Posts

Ok, I don't want gloss, I want a sheen and I'm not worried about the difference in the sheen between Eggshell and Satinwood.

So, it will be white and used for doors, doorframes, skirting and stair spindles (not handrails).

I want something easy to apply, that stays white as long as sensible, is hard wearing and easy to clean.

I am no fan of water based paint or varnish, so I'm really looking for solvent versions.

Any suggestions please, and why?

Thank you!

What ever you choose make sure it's solvent based, the water based quick drying stuff is awful.

Same goes for your undercoat. A light tickle between coats will help aswell....... Then rub the wood aswell. Lol

I prefer dulux trade gloss with an additive called owotrol in it.....just a few options there mate.

Dulux all the way,im doing my staircase and doors after x mass and i will be using French White, its just a tad off white colour and i find it is less glaring than white, softer to the eye.Just need to run it by the boss and see if she wants it ,lol...As said before, solvent based all the way, tougher and easier to work with.
