Omanyra 2,518
This is mine. He isn't an F1 cross but rather line bred or bred best to best for generations out of coyote dog stock. To illustrate how hard of a dog he is, I have posted a picture of him holding a big toothy boar caught 1 out by him. Good pics matie.. Edited December 7, 2015 by Omanyra Quote Link to post

matt1979 766
This cross along with pure greyhounds was the lurcher I grew up with and everyone we had was a gentle giant, lovely laid back natures. I was too young to really to go out with them working but tagged along occasionally. Judging by what was regularly hanging up in our or my nans coal shed they were useful animals. My dad still talks about these dogs, but obviously times have changed somewhat and menu list has reduced accordingly. Will try and grab some old photos and put them up, the last dog of this cross we had was called Stig and he seemed a giant at the time, but probably around 30tts in reality. My uncle and dad had a pair of sisters before him Milly and Molly and they were some team from what I am told atb Edited December 7, 2015 by matt1979 4 Quote Link to post

mackem 29,522
Two old mates bought litter brothers years ago from a guy in Gateshead who bred a line of deerhound lurchers, both were worked over much of the UK,from caithness down to the home counties,i saw one meet a premature end running a fox across a road in Abbey Wood south/east london, early hours, dog had taken a fox earlier in the evening and when a second one came mooching in it looked a cert. The second one made old bones,he was the most usefull of the pair, both took several varieties of deer, lots of fox, rabbit and hare, good memories. 1 Quote Link to post

Omanyra 2,518
Nuttal from Clitheroe, yes the terrier man, bred them using Enterkine deerhounds, a really good kennel that produced some cracking working deerhounds..I think There was a guy in the Burnley area too, that bred some good stuff years ago Merlin, a first cross.. That's him mate, he used to send pups down on the train from caithness, did'nt know he was from glasgow though. I met a lad in northumberland who had a first cross that he'd had sent down as a pup, was'nt like the racy brindle or black dogs that i was used to seeing, this one looked more like a pure deerhound Quote Link to post
mackem 29,522
Yes mate,he became enamoured with caithness and sutherland during the big rabbit days of tommy mcphee,i am sure he was a plasterer from glasgow originally?I wonder if he is still around? Quote Link to post
