Passing On Permissions !

Recommended Posts

I met a chap who lived about 8 miles away through selling a rifle. He was keen to get into airgun hunting after a spell away from it.

So I offered to take him out with me. After a few trips out I decided to offer him a few farms I had which were close to his home. I took along and introduced him to the farmer.

All good so far. He then sold the gun I'd sold him at a tidy profit got a couple of ferrets and proceeded to empty the land of all rabbits.

I went round the other night ( my mate has adjoining land )

Not a bunny to be seen my mate has seen him out regularly with the ferrets.

I'm quite lucky to have several permissions but feel let down. My experience of ferret hunters isn't great.

Lesson learned.

That's why it's so hard to get started these days, most lads that have taken newbies out get stabbed in the back, and wont risk it again, not your mates fault that his ferrets are clearing the place out, it's top method for clearing rabbits. That's why most folk keep their best grounds to them selves. Had it my self a few years ago, shared some land with a mate of a good mate. He shot all the hares and deer, and rabbits . You live and learn. ;)

Hi CP,

Bit of a situation for you. I see you are in Central Scotland and most farms in Scotland have Rabbits, lots of rabbits !

Trouble is the farmer might be glad of the ferret man now ?

A partnership situation is probably the best route like Big Mac and Vis have.

good luck
