keepitcovert 842
Two people killed in the brecon beacons this weekend by lightning, have you ever had a near miss, ive had two in my life first one in the early 80s a lad walking about a hundred yards in front of me was killed when it hit a tree and then hit him on the head, i remember the shockwave as it struck. The second time was last year when out with the dog a dead tree was struck this time only 50 yds away it was left smouldering for a couple of days before falling, hope its not third time unlucky. Have you had any dodgy experiences with it.

johnny boy68 11,726
Pen y fan, Corn du and Cribyn would be the last place I'd be in a lightening storm, hardly a tree in sight so your head is the highest point for a strike. RIP.
tomburras 2,730
last night while in my caravan in Ripon and I was sat in the doorway looking out waiting for the storm to pass and lightening struck the pylon next to caravan and cut the power supply, and tripped the switches on the caravan. I felt the shock wave and gained a new friend in my underpants! it was quite an experience. Last year while shooting in little Ouseburn another pylon was struck about 120 yards away and i felt that shock wave also. Pretty odd when your that close as it sounded like a single bang. Wullz 408
I got caught in the middle of Whiteadder reservoir in the middle of a storm...havnt rowed so fast in my life, whilst keeping as flat to the gunwales as possible!! I am 6ft + and my mate Chewie is 6ft 8, plus we were waving about 10 foot bits of carbon, I thought we were a nap to get fried.....was a scary night...the lightening struck an old tree at the bottom end of the loch and I was sure we were getting it next.....
