London Wtf????

Recommended Posts

Its everything in proportion i suppose.... For what you would pay for a shitty little flat in london you could get a smashing 3/4 bed house on a couple of acres in 90% of the place in ireland... But the wages wont be the same and quantity of work so i guess its a supply and demand thing in london, they can charge because there is such demand.... I'll stick with my pad in the country at home and just rent this shit hole while im in the big smoke!!! No comparisson in my view!!

I think the average London salary is around the 35k mark, but I could be wrong.......I think the main reason is the overwhelming demand for property in decent areas.

It isnt that bad a place,it cant be..........................................3 million foreigners cant all be wrong surely?

I did it for a couple of years, working on site & l loved it!.....but then I was only in my early 20's & living near Camden, I certainly never ran out of things to do! Lol I even blagged days

I said Londons a land of opportunity not f****n miracles

Even areas in london with a not so good reputation are expensive. Brixton for example wont get a flat for less than 220k. That said the area does have alot of posh trendy people.

Last time in a pub there when my mates left i carried on drinking with some posh lot. Not got sod all in common but quite clued up on music due to my dad. Was talking about bands my mates didnt have a clue about so they got bored i guess. Anyway ended up back at some house proper wasted. Changed my opinon about wine being a womans drink i tell ya lol. Asked to use the bathroom on my way notice 5 paintings in the hall. Not into art what so ever but just though one would look good in my room. Came back in n asked about em n she said their sign damien hirst prints. Not into art but know the name hirst and is worth money but as she said print i thought ill google and get me one. Saw em going for 7k each lol needless to say i never got one.

for what i do anyway its alot better in london than home, and at a guess id imagine 90% of the lads in construction in london get better money than at home.

wages are higher for sure and alot more work i guess. Thing thats tempting is to work your bollocks off in london and live like a saint saving while at home. Then just buying a place out of london with the repayments being f**k all as youve put such a decent deposit down. Suppose youd have to have stayed at the area first but looking on that rightmove at some areas its mad what you can get for less than the price of a london flat. I dont think ill be fussed where i live you decide the company you keep n who you mix with dont ya.

...& regular work is there, whenever things looked like they were drying up in the past, I be would be looking in London, jump in the van, drive round all day & get a start....but then I was only an 1 1/2 hours away.....

Anywhere that extreme poverty crosses with extreme wealth your going to find interesting lives and no end of opportunities........sure you,ll find shitholes and bad areas but you,ll also find beauty and nice areas its the opportunity of going from one to the other that makes London the greatest City in the world for me.

Dirty, filthy smelly rat hole. :bad: We won't even work down there, will not travel inside the m25. We do have a few customers ring us now and then and tell them all the same, bring it to us, send it by carrier or do what you want with it but we're not coming into the cesspit you call town!

haven't been near the place in 30 years.

I live a few hundred yards inside the m25 my gaff backs onto a golf course surrounded by beautiful woods and countryside as is the next village along......as is the same even as far down as places like Epsom and Leatherhead.......my guess is you wouldnt be turning your nose up at these places......particularly if you come from somewhere like the Black Country.......not exactly Beverley Hills is it ;)

Well to be honest we live in the heart of the black country, back on to a farm, in a road full of either business owners, self employed or professionals, a few hundred yards from open green spaces and a pool, a 5 minute drive from the Worcestershire countryside and 10 minutes from several stately homes and country parks.

So yep, London is a shithole. And you started the willy waving

if you know how to weave through the shit it is still a great place , spent most of my time living, working in and around London it cant get beat on plenty of aspects from food to clubs bars markets , a vibrant place day and night and can be a dangerous place if you go the wrong way through it . to many great areas to list and to many shitholes in amongt it but London town cant be beat in my book

It's like any area, has it's ups and downs. It's just the city I don't like, always appeared a dirty hole full of litter and rubbish.

Haven't been in the city now for years, nor do I want to. Work wise we will not go in because of cyclists taking priority, congestion charges, immigrants cleaning windows, parking fines etc. They don't want vehicles there so fair enough, we stay away.

A couple of the lads in the factory next to us go on a regular basis, they admit it's a crap hole and they hate it. They are however ripping the customer off big style (as in BIG style) so continue to go, like they say, London companies have more money than sense. They just pay any fines as it's a drop in the ocean. We won't go, they either come to us or go elsewhere.

I won't work anywhere inside the m25, can't stand the place.

It's probably great but having spent enough time there working it's clouded my view of the shithole!

Matt

an example to being put in digs and working , a site just on the out side of m25 has fallow muntjac hares rabbits on the land around the site even the hunt pass through there . the floor layers were from Manchester and there digs were in Ilford so I suppose they drunk and ate out in Ilford but we know Ilford as a shithole , when I was a lad ilford was a nice place and used to watch essex play cricket there, so these lads will go home and say they stayed down south in a shithole , had there bosses put them up nearer to the site it may have altered the perception of shithole Edited by fourlurchers

Really should get down there with the mrs and do the. "Tourist" thing but it just pains me! Lol

Have a look round for me while you're there because I won't be going, not when there's Cornwall, devon, Wales etc easier to get in to and a damn sight cheaper (and cleaner)

Having said that, we know the folk in Hyde park winter wonderland and my son keeps on at me to go there one Christmas, so far I've managed to put it off
