I would have thought jogging was aerobic,,,   Pulling weights would be anaerobic,,,,it certainly is in humans,,,,is it not in dogs as well,,,,genuine question ,,cheers

Just make sure your not wasting your time n conditioning the wrong dog lol.

use them all for a total workout. each has it benefits but combined and done right the results will be plain to see

Slatemill is aerobic and jogging or roadwork is anaerobic = very fit dog !

lol you could be right mate, although I thought that if your doing roadwork it's you pushing and making your muscles work anaerobic . Whereas running on any sort if free running mill was easier thus aerobic. That's the way I thought the difference was , I know when I've been in the gym it's always easier to run on a treadmill than it is in the road.

Keeping it very simple......aerobic work requires oxygen via breath to feed the muscles......working anaerobically requires glycogen for fuel....ie oxygen is not present.

Jogging is still using oxygen ;)

fair play that makes sense ??

While a slatmill is the perfect tool to get the lungs open nothing will bring a dogs reactions up as well as a flirt pole.....a combination of both coupled with long handwalking should be the basics to your conditioning.

If I had the time I would use the powerhouse road work keep on all my dogs...

each dog is individual, some will simply not run a mill! As others have said, the slat mill will open you dog up, and if used correctly, will build wind in your dog and shorten recovery periods between hard bursts of work. NEVER force a dog to run a mill, and ALWAYS hand walk your dog before to empty himself out, and after to warm him down...and they do love a good hand rub after as well, warms down the muscles and help create a great bond between hound and handler... ;)
