After a little advice on what bantams to get? They are for the daughter so something that settles to being handled and a few eggs would be nice. Would just have a few, maybe 3 or 4. So looking for something that looks nice, reasonable layer for a Bantam and pretty bomb proof health wise.

Any suggestions, advice??

OEG bantys lay ok, but they are prone to Northern mite, got to keep an eye on em. Easy treated, some are more prone than others. Light Sussex are good too, they are not fliers, and stay close to home, decent sized egg for a Banty, good Broodys even better crossed with Silkie. Both breeds are good, more variety in colour with OEG though. Atb :-)

Peking's I kept them for years ... Easy to handle clean birds and lay well .........

pekins are pretty high maintenance with feathered legs and feet in wet weather and free ranging they are terrible.... i found they were more prone to scaly leg also...

Forgot about that :icon_redface: ,which is funny as they were the reasons I never suggested Brahma bantams .I really liked mine but the muddy feet feathers and cockerel went down with scaley leg.done my head in,so I don't keep them now.

Never had any problems with mine they tend to scratch around less in the mud because of their feathered feet ......
