Miners Strike And Me Itv Now

Recommended Posts

I moved from Glasgow to the highlands all because of work. c**ts come from foreign countries over here looking for work. Only the miners it seems can't move outside their wee village cos they are too scared of leaving the sanctuary of there wee built up community. I could find a 100 excuses every morning to stay longer in bed, but I don't. It's called motivation, something clearly lacking in a lot of folk. It's a lot easier to point the finger at someone else and say, they've destroyed my life and pass that philosophy down the generations. Don't worry lad, their ain't no jobs about, it's that b*****d thatchers fault in the 70's..... What a bubble to live in, each to there own.

. Miners strike was not in the 70s. And they never ran away they stood there. Ground. And fought tooth and nail for their jobs COLE NOT DOLE think you should worry about the bubble you live in suzy. Just think if we all ran away because of foreigers. Tut tut and they like you are only looking for work.

There's a lot of bile for Thatcher but lets have it right, the girl (yes GIRL) came from nothing, her parents grafted in their OWN business, she got herself an education and worked hard enough to get

Or maybe it means that you can't have a load of KGB infiltrated communists taking their perks and wages from the real economy, from business & taxpayers that create their own money whilst holding

Fcuk there is some shit being talked on this thread. Yes Thatcher done good for herself from middle class beginings, yes she was an astute politician. And yes she fcuked the country up by setting neig

Whatever, it's all done now.....they lost end of story.

Dry your eyes and move on.

Let concentrate on getting rid of the Blue, yellow and red socialists we have now.

Got to agree who gives a f**k same as all the victims of IRA terrorists and all the POW who were tortured by the japs in ww2 but their flags fly above british firms forgive but never forget.

Its mad listening to people still sobbing, whingeing and blaming others having made no attempt to lift themself out of a bad situation.........Baw hit the nail on the head about the " blame culture "........we tend to moan about todays generation and the " blame culture " we see from youngsters.......yet topics like this prove its been around years, long before todays generation..........for some folk its easier to blame others than role your sleeves up.

Then when you listen to the vile no class shit spoken about a now dead old woman, regardless what you thought of her.........you start to realise maybe some folk get what they deserve out of life..........in the appropriate words of an old saying i like ................................" Water eventually finds its own level " ;)

. Very true. When the truth has come out she was a common lier lol and look how her off spring turned out lol another old saying thee carnt make a silk purse out off a pigs ear God bless her cotten socks eh all that education and still ended up with scum bags for kids ah well all history eh ,

What do you care what she was like as a parent ?......Do you book Rooney as a shit footballer because he slipped into a brass ?........If you dislike the womans politics then fair enough....but to use cheap jibes about her kids.....well thats just.........cheap...............but then its easy to talk cheap about dead people we didnt like its not the done thing if you ask me.

This I feel is a debate that will forever roll on because depending were you lived at the time will forever dictate your opinion of her.

But thats just it, I'm not going to go on and on about where Im from but I grew up on a council estate in a family that was poor and I was force fed all that sh*t for years growing up. My father went out on strike due to the Unions and (admittedly not for a year like the miners) we had no food for weeks and weeks. The street where we lived brought round cans of food to help feed us kids whilst my mom and dad lived on bread and jam.

The difference is it taught me a lesson, I learnt to think for myself and not listen to the crap from everyone else about how I should view the world. I learnt hard work and determination brings rewards and those that want to sit on their arse and cry in their beer about how life has treated them will always be the victim. I truly am sorry for those people on that documentary but as I said before it was 30 years ago they need to let it go. Once a SCAB always a SCAB? FFS leave it out my family is more imporatnt to me than a job..

Excellent post mate,

Far too many expect everything but are willing to put in f**k all, I'm sure there are a lot of us that could reel off stories of hardship growing up, like you say you either use that to teach you the lessons and make something better or you moan like f**k and all the the time get no further in your life.

And also I'm not solely on about wealth, some people will never be happy, always looking at others and suffering with jealousy instead of concentrating on themselves and theirs......

The problem with this country is the geographical divide of wealth. The S East is the richest part of the country, probably because it has the highest density of population not to mention the capital city. The local economy refects this. Compare that to Wales where the total population is less than greater London then you have a supply and demand problem.

When the pits were closed demand decreased for any comoditiy, for obvious reasons. You cannot have the people who were thrown on the scrap pile (no matter how much they wanted to) opening up new ventures where the demand was less than when they were in work.

I will try and spell it out for the hard of comprehension. You have a community of 1000 families, 500 who work down the local pit, every other part of the community relies on that pit for it's livelyhood from the draper to the butcher. Once that pit closes it is not only the miners that suffer it is all the ancillary businesses.

And yet some are saying that amidst that failing local economy every miner should have worked his balls off to make something of his self.

That is the biggest load of shit that has ever graced the pages of this forum.

Given the privaledges that the people in the S East of the country have been given population wise and maybe they could have.

I am not moaning nor complaining just stating facts.

TC

Its being spoken to with this sort of attitude that leaves many people happy with the " leave them where you found them " mentality regarding some communities.

Like them or loathe them i have more respect for some of these travelling communities who might bend a few laws than some of these so called big strong mining communtities.....................at least the travelling folk crack on and try to work a pound note instead of whingeing and moaning about what could have been !

I noticed there was no mention of when the mines inspectors rocked up , the night shift were going in with doss bags and some had a change of clothes for the darts in the local that night, clocking in and going home, nothing mentioned as max keeps on saying as it was a community and the local hard man doctrine would mean charge hands windows being put through

As for that guy who never spoke to his son for 30 years, what A cock

Move on

Stuff like that is well known, it happened in all those nationalised industries where the union had your back.

We were paying for that.

So lets cut the hovis music crap, they had a right tickle for years and eventually tickled the industry into the ground !

you didnt clock on to go down the pit you got two brass cheques you gave one before getting on the cage to go down the pit and you gave the otherone when you came out and in ten years as a miner the inspectors never rocked up they used to give 3/4 weeks notice so the manager and undermanagers used to run round like headless chickens making sure everything was ok so they didnt get the bollocks chewed
