Lurcher Terrier and Whippet Show and Raceday in Baltinglass County Wicklow on 30th of March all qualifiers for 5 nations and Master Mcgragh, more details closer to event

Hi Tommy what is this show being run in aid off, just like to know what I am supporting.

Lurcher Ireland (tommy cullen) is only in dogs to make money for him self. I have never ever seen any one ask to judge a lurcher at a show and try to sell his DVD in the ring at the same time as judgi

Hi everyone, really excited about show on Sunday, but could really use a little help, I've attended shows before but have never entered a dog, I have a really nice bitch and I think it would be great fun putting her in the classes, so I'm totally new to the whole thing, just wondering does she have to be placed in another class to go for the champion class or is it separate altogether,

And in the racing class what is the difference between over 23 and over 23 elite?

Thanks for reading this and hope Sunday goes well for everyone involved!!:)

gs through various sponsorships/donations etc and when I attended his Christmas show I said to my wife as I went away - that must have cost Des some money. I would suspect his judging will actually cost money because when he was one of three judges at Birr in the FN - he didn't take his expenses that were offered! I don't know whether Des has ever kept whippets but you don't have to keep a particular kind of dog to be able to judge what is a good one - the BIS judge at Crufts doesn't keep all the types of dogs they judge and obviously Des has judged the best of whippets when he has judged BIS.

I have given a little sponsorship this show because I thought it was good to have some more shows in the south so that people didn't have too far to travel to qualify for our FN and Master McGrath events but as someone who knows how much it costs to put on even a small event I didn't really think it important to ask Tommy how he was going to disperse his profits ( I any). I am sure it will become clear after the show when and if profits are actually made. AlbertJ

Winners of a lurcher class at the show go forward to compete in the champion class of the show, And the winners of the overall lurcher champion qualify for the 5 nations in Birr castle, as for the racing the difference between the over 23s and Elite over 23s is the Elite racing is for dogs bred and trained for racing and the winner qualifys for the Master Mcgragh where as the other class of over 23s is for lurchers that just want a run on the day, great pizes for all the racing classes

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the show but wish the organisera, judges and competitors all the very best for a great day out.

The qualifiers for the Master McGrath and the Five Nations Whippet Championships at Shanes - each receive two ticket to the IRISH GAME FAIR at Shanes CASTLEand a year's subscription to the Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine. The qualifiers for the Five Nations Terrier & Lurcher Championships - each receive two ticket to the IRISH GAME & COUNTRY FAIR at BIRR CASTLE and a year's subscription to the Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine.

Those qualifiers who turn up to compete in the final receive a special limited edition cap and of course have the opportunity to compete for the best terrier, lurcher and whippet prizes in Ireland.

Shield if you don't want peoples opinions and views of the shite your spouting then do not post. You never answered the questions regarding why you attended the show of a man you say is only interested in money gains from shows. So its plain to see your posts are more of a grudge rather than actual fact and im sure Dessie didn't need your blatantly biased opinions but you posted them all the same.

Thought I might pop over the water for a quick break with the family and drop in on the show on the way through but just checked out the price of the Ferry.... £300 to head over on Sat and come back Sun.

Maybe I'll miss it this time!!

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
