I can't say I would want to drag a just jabbed puppy out lamping sounds a pain on the arse. I don't believe it benefits a pup much, if at all. Not ideal for a young developing pup physically either. Y

Take mine out soon as jabbed ,learn everything from being in motors to getting through gates ,mine normally have first rabbit by 6 months ,then its just not give them too much too soon

When they are ready, each dogs different.

In most respects,, I don't think it matters,, I've seen dogs started from having there jabs,,like some on here do,,,I have also started some of my dogs at around 6 month age,,, and have started dogs at around 1 year old..

And I wouldn't say those dogs started early are better,,,not a chance... But there no worse either,,,

I also don't hold with dogs that are started early,, get used to gates and all the rest of it,,, cos if your doing things right there doing all this in the day...

I do believe in getting them out though from an early age,, daytime walks mooches,, or ferreting,,,

Maybe there's a element of making this easier for the owner. If truth be told how many take a pup lamping as they don't want it sat yapping in the house or kennel when they go out with the other dogs?

I can't see any other benefit taking a dog from 8 weeks and I am all for early socialisation.

Train them first, let them grow and enter when ready, each ones different! I don't see the rush, not worth the risk IMO.

Ive got a pup staying with me at the minute hes been here for about a week now coursing bred and already hes come on abit going through gates and barbed wire you cant beat getting them out nice and early in and around cover and stock. I also like to introduce them to fur quite early so hopefully when they do start searching for scent themselves its slightly familiar to a young dog.

Id say what i do with pups though is just socialisation ive learned my lesson before by overmatching a dog when it just wasnt ready for it and its sickening.
