jigsaw 11,809 Posted December 2, 2013 Report Share Posted December 2, 2013 I found this on FB,how are you supposed to defend this stupid carry on,this kind of bad publicity is detrimental to our way of living,I know accidents happen but fuk sake,thats just plain awful for the family to experience such a thing.I followed hounds for many a year and am a supporter of all field sports even if I dont like some of them.I would hate to sit in a room with these folk and try explain it was a terrible ''acccident'' Yesterday, at around 4pm, our beautiful little dog, Isabelle was savaged and mutilated to death in our garden by a pack of approx. 20 hounds. These dogs were part of a hunt organised by The Bray Harriers. Isabelle was out playing in the garden when utter chaos ensued. This pack of out of control dogs trespassed on our property and chased this small dog, until they caught her and savaged her todeath. They entered through our front gate along with horses and their riders, who followed to try to bring these dogs under some form of control. Some riders dismounted, leaving horses to roam around our garden unaccompanied. This shocking and catastrophic event has left our family devastated. We were not informed that this hunt was taking place. Local Gardaí reported to us that they were not aware that this hunt was taking place. The Bray Harriers website also did not inform anyone that this hunt was due to take place in Ashford. Instead, it says 'Sat 30th Nov TBC'. This shocking and barbaric sport needs to be strictly regulated. These blood thirsty hounds were out of control and were allowed to roam freely past houses with families, young children and pets. Laws need to be changed so this is never allowed to happen again. Are we going to wait until a child or adult is hurt and injured while these blood thirsty hounds hunt for their prey?Sorry won’t bring Isabelle back, but with your support we hope that her death won’t be in vein. Then the people involved should investigate the incident and learn lessons from it and change what needs changing to stop it happening again, just as you would an accident in a place of work. Nothing will bring the dead dog back but you can make sure it dosent happen again, transparency is required in the process to prove that the incident has been taken seriously. The best way forward would be an official from the hunt to visit and try to apologise personally 1 Link to post Share on other sites
