weasle 1,119
Was thinking about this last night, long wax jackets all the rage in late 80s.would love another, could be a bit snaggy going over barbed wire but great to keep rain and dirt of at least when you took it of your trousers wouldn't be covered in rabbit hair ect. Any one know if any one still making them?
Qbgrey 4,271
barbours gone the same way doc martins went, all fashionable,i think the wax jackets are too dear, too smelly, and to greasy, although i bought a tweed barbour ,i was in the shooting shop looking at guns a the lady said did i need a coat, not really i said, she said 100 pounds for the last one, well its been a good coat, bit to posh for me but i only lamp in it so all good. Huan72 687
Barbours are expensive, I remember about 7 or 8 years ago the barbour outlet stores were doing big discounts, half price actually. Come on Barbour, were living in tough times.................................reduce the prices, you will sell more and reach more of the audience that the coats are designed for

brucemyster 75
Wax jackets are the only way for beating imo, generally thorn, bramble and waterproof they put up with a lot of abuse, I normally pick up a couple cheap at boot fairs but have managed to get hold of a Barbour for this season second hand for a tenner, you can definitely feel the difference in quality, from the little things like the extended storm cuffs to the overall superior weight of the materials used, worth the money if you can afford them new, a bonus if you can pick up a decent used one cheap
Ossie n Arch 1,683
Classic Beaufont with a extra quilted liner. Had Barbour make the sleeves longer because iv'e got Ape length arms. Never had a Barbour before, cost me an arm and a leg from a little shop in Norfolk. I'll be wearing it tomorrow at the Tigers-Northampton game, far to nice to wear out with the dogs.............Got a Jack Pyke for that.
lapin2008 1,587
I use a £20 one I got from yorkshire trading. Works well enough for me. Its been caught a few times on barb wire and ripped but I have sewn it back up and its fine really. I would be devasted if I tore a Barbour one

I got one off ebay thinkin i'd got the bargain of the century... Turns out the arms had been factory altered for the 'shorter arm'... Now, i'm part orangutang in the arm length an when I modeled it our young Patrick here, he pissed himself laughing.... Go on then, laugh it up...!!!!
