desertdog 149 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Share Posted September 22, 2013 just wondering what the rest of the country is like, serious shortage of rabbits here in cambs,looks like the ferts wont be doing much yet,took a trip lamping, and struggled to get 6,covering alot of ground, seems to be more hares about, seems they have all gone since the last winter. desertdog 149 Posted September 22, 2013 Author Report Share Posted September 22, 2013 4 year ago, i took 1800 rabbits off the two farms i work over, this year im goin to struggle, most of my game etc, is sold , looks like i might have to change my occupation or find rabbits elsewhere, a couple of year ago i went down to dorset for 3 days, lamped, ferreted,and came back with a van full, id like a trip like that again. That the thing mate. You can be the victim, of your own success.. Got some very good ground few years back.. Easy running - stone walled. The dogs never missed much & daytime you could pick up double figures.. After a few good sessions the land was almost barren.. I just had to keep finding more ground and traveling to attempt to keep the numbers rolling in.. Its difficult situation at times.. If you don't take what's there, others will. Then there is that age old saying you can only kill them once.. hope things pick up for you Quote Link to post
