forest of dean redneck 12,023
Local radio was whittering on about. Level 3? Heat warning for SE England, Now the retired generation grew up with snow in winters and proper hot summers, So why is there a panic over everything. We ge some decent sun and people are keeling over dehydrated and sunstroke, and 2 inches of snow makes everyone panic buy food and drive their car into the hedge . Bit of rain, and everyone's building arcs ,FFS. Anyone who grew up in the 70/80s should be used to this, talk about memory loss.

walshie 2,804
It's because the government thinks we are like sheep and can't cope without them overseeing every step of what we do. Ow! I just stuck my pen in my eye. Why wasn't I warned that would hurt?

lapin2008 1,587
I am sure its mostly down to the media sensationalising everything. Older people would have died in periods of hot/cold/wet it the past it just never will have been plastered all over the place as though there was some sort of weather related apocalypse going on. With headlines like 'frozen in her bed' makes the population shit themselves and go buy food lol. The fact that the person who died may have been 98 years old and lived in a house with no heating sort of gets over looked. The thing that gets me about the panic buying is that when it happens you sort of have to do the same because if a spate of panic buying falls in between weekly shops there can be nothing in the shops for a week or two after and you wind up unable to get anything in.
