secretagentmole 1,701
Decided to have a couple of hours rabbit plugging! Got into my under the pear tree position and there was a flurry of red n the branches above me. A loud squawk announced the arrival of an individual I have named Bulmer (because he is a juvenile Red Headed Woodpecker). He spent ages watching me hoping I had something more interesting than insects to eat. After seeing the rabbits leaving the junkyard by the nursery end, I moved under the trees that separate the junkyard from the meadow, laid up and waited, Bulmer arrived with a squawk. A few minutes later a head emerged from the nettles, about 40 feet away! I lined up the crosshairs and let a Crosman out. Rabbit number one in the bag. I moved back to the shade of the pear tree and Bulmer came back as well! I think I am being followed by a Woodpecker! Across the way (120 feet or so) another rabbit came out to graze. It hopped out a bit further and another Crosman was liberated! I tried to get a couple of photos of Bulmer but I think he is camera shy or annoyed as I did not let him have any pork pie....
