I would rather see the for sale section gone tbh, for every genuine sale I bet theres 10 by wrong uns, pedlars etc.

I don't see the problem to be honest. This is a hunting WEBSITE with a forum attached, not the other way round. Part of that forum there is a for sale section. So what if someone has pups to sell but

Of maybe we could have it for long standing members

Anyone should be able to sell..

Its up to the man, parting with his cash to decide what's what..

To be honest half the time is numpties buying shit off other numpties.. let them get on with it

I think there should be a advertising fee £5 or even £10 for a litter.

to be honest i rarely go in the classified section other than if requested, i wouldn't be bothered if it went all together. i do however think people advertising pups should be prepared to pay the going advertising rates that would apply to cmw or edrd, Some sort of vouching system would be good in an attempt to stop fraud in other classified adds.
Try telling that to strong stuff ! Lol

So what if someone has pups to sell but doesn't want to spend hours talking on the forum, does that make them any less of a hunter? Not everyone with a litter of pups is a peddler and how come there are good peddlers and bad? Some of the coursing saluki peddlers are hailed as gods. Is it just if you don't have pups sold before there born that makes you a bad un? Stop taking the site so serious and stay off the boards that annoy you, simples

Yea sometimes I think it is. Folk are always going to find ways to make money and selling pups is a pretty easy one. As long as the dogs are looked after I don't see a problem. Good dogs breed some shite and shite breeds some good dogs, so its up to the buyer to decide what he wants to do. It's ok for us c**ts who know folk with decent dogs to know where to get a pup but folk starting out with no knowleband little funds, need an avenue somewhere. If I was starting out and seen a dog for sale on here and wasn't sure, it would only take 1 thread on the lurcher section asking about them to find out if they were worth buying and if not, someone would point me in the direction of a good pup. So I don't see the problem.

fooking god help the saluki boys :laugh::laugh:

god help every f****r......

the wee fud has a point tho........the for sale section can help "newbies" (hate that word) and seasoned pros alike.........i cant remember who it was but someone couple of years back had about 16 posts and put up a litter of bull crosses........the THL lynch mob came out and ripped him to f**k about being a peddlar as he had hardly posted in two years..........yet one look at the dogs and it was clear to see the dogs were in top shape and worked well........ended up guy took the ad off, called the site a place full of clowns and never posted again.........then over in lurcherville someone was asking if anyone is breeding a litter of bull crosses............so both partys missed out really........

if it was me, and i no its not........ :D , id make it that all ads must have a picture of sire and dam tied, a picture of the pups with the dam and a short description of the parents and why the litters been bred and what the breeder hopes to achieve with the mating...........then if someone comes up with "lucher pubs 4 sail, dam 2yrold and testd on everythink wi teeth, sire 12 mmonth lab gud at retriving pidgeons" type shite can just be deleted............... ;)

This subject has been touched a lot of times.

The post you reference to, that person has obviously joined and paid a fee to advertise in there, knowing that he couldn't advertise anywhere without doing this.

Now my take on it. If I breed a dog and want to sell it, who is to tell me I can or can't.?

I read some of the posts on here and laugh. I've had discussions with people and thought how biased??

At some point you will get people saying they give there dogs away never sell them. Anyone selling dogs is a peddler...blah blah..

BUT at some point they will have bought a dog, no doubt about it, not everyone into hunting, knows someone they can get a free dog from, when starting out or years down the line, people get tunnel vision after a few year of having world beaters and giving them away !!

I think the main points of concern are, is the person a constant puppy peddlar and are the animals cared for...I personally dont care if there going to be the elite of running dogs or hardest of terriers, because I've came across some of the most vile b*****ds you will come across with the biggest and hardest, I would rather get a dog shot or give someone a £££ so they didn't fall into the hands of these pricks..

Back to this obsession with the problem of people selling a dog, parrot, budgie, hamster, chimpanzee, whatever if there well looked after from young and someone wants to sell an animal or pup, why not... I don't agree with people selling purely for money myself., but what is the actual real problem..

To be honest in my life, I have a LOT more to worry about than if someones selling a litter of pups in a paper, magazine or website..

 aye, couldn't see me getting much votes from them. I wouldn't ban them if I was mod, I'd just use the opportunity to tell them what I really thought of them

Gotta be honest, I'm with Baw on this one, not that I really give two hoots anyway, the forum is for you, I'll moderate it as asked, whatever the content.

I rarely look at the classified section only because its crap but if I look through ED RD, The Countryman's or years ago Exchange & Mart, it'd always be the classifieds that I went to first... I simply have a fascination on whats being both bred and offered.. Never bought anything from them though, just simply like looking.... No different than if I went to Clithero market.... Dogs have to be bred, surplus has to go and folks need dogs, you need to study and make an informed choice!

Anyways, I ain't voting, I'll just go with whatever.... :D

to be honest i think if you just said its fifty quid to advertise a litter of pups it would have the same effect :laugh:

PMSL @ 'lurcherville' comment; fantastic.....

As Ian says, if they don't advertise on here they will advertise elsewhere. Taking the moral high ground and condemning those who breed dogs will make no difference at all.

We all have to start somewhere, and this seems like as good a place as any to look for a dog or a hamster or whatever. While we all despise those who treat dogs as commodities that can be traded for a bit of dosh or swapped for the next fad, banning folks with low post counts from advertising will have no effect.

If you see something that doesn't sit right then hit the report button and the mods will look into it.
