derekbrown 176
For those that read my post back in February about being taken in for police questioning over a suspected lamping incident, we have just had the charges dropped in court. We attended last Friday and it was adjourned for 7 days due to lack of evidence. Today the case was dropped. They saw us walking off a public footpath with lamps and dogs. No game had been run or caught. They tried to throw the book at us and went for charges of "section 1 of the hunting act 2004" and also a separate charge under the dangerous dogs act for having out of control dogs. Ludicrous considering the dogs didn't come off the leads. We think they were just hoping we would submit an early guilty plea. Which of course we did not. Result in my book. Roll on the season Fair play to you lad.just goes to show how stupid and pointless the hunting act is. Edited June 9, 2013 by derekbrown
Gaz_1989 9,539
Thanks everyone. Giro - We were all amazed that it made it to court. It happened 28th Feb, first court date was 31st May (last Friday) and they still adjourned it to give the police 7 more days to "find some evidence". And then yesterday when they finally realised that it had to be dropped the prosecution said "unfortunately your honour the arresting officers acted too quickly bringing the defendants to court in this instance and I am afraid there is not enough evidence to proceed". FFS how about you could of waited 12 months and still found nothing. Bell ends

arcticgun 4,548
well done fella's about time someone stood up to em in court, they take it for granted at magistrate level that you will simply roll over and plead to charges or lesser charges and come away with a fine thats cheaper than solicitors fees and most see this offer a s a quick cheap way out, better to fight em and save that for the day ya really need it imho, the too used to assumming prior guilt are the plods. baw 4,360
Unless your caught with the hare in your hand on the land, admit nothing. It's down to them to prove you've done wrong.

Luckily the lads I was with had the same mind set. "They can get f****d if they think we are throwing a guilty plea for simplicity"
scothunter 12,609
no greater feeling than walking out of court, with a not proven or admonished although the cops do hold a grudge when that happens lol
