BG, if you are serious in breeding this "type" of hunting dog, you may want to look at the laika type dogs. Not as bastardised as show dogs as malamutes and should more than have the minerals. Neither would be for me, but I wish you luck as you tread your own path.

Keep it quite and come back in two years time and give us an unbiased appraisal

 

Actually this has some good points except in yalls country with most of ya just moochin bout on rabbits and stuff the lil elkhounds would be an even better choice. If ya havent been around them then you might not believe this but they are some catty lil athletic sumbitches. They just move very snappy and very gracefully. They are a pleasure watch when you squirrel hunt with them. The lil b*****ds can run like the wind and they just leap and bound all over the place.

All these spitz breed dogs are vocal,mainly baying at the animal until its dispatched by their master,course we got the endless tracts of country here to do that.

 

 

Yes they are. I was pretty surprised that they make good lil tree dogs. They dont tree hard like a hound or anything but they are accurate sumbitches.

Hop this work for bg lol good example of how the malamute used to be used in BIG PACKS on 1 already shot deer and how the hunting malamute of old is gone out of the dogs and only minor prey drive left all that remains is heavy instinct to pull. Good little article showing how even the malamute of old pre pet, wasn't really up to task of hunting single handed or even on prey not shot lol so wat chances are there of today mutts of this type

I no wat ur saying but for me I lik both sides to be driven n wat happen if take the mal temp ya fxcked. If one the parents lack heart then that aint good start if wantin a hard type get in get it done. I was like u muka I rated em high enough but funny enough as time go on all the mal type hav folded. Wat good a dog that does well 1 season then no good for rest workin life as that wat this x seem to be like. Happened with the pure on teeth and all them x's on the deer. It makes me wonder, threads like this.........are people sitting there watching the telly at night and a programme comes on that features such and such a dog and they have a lightbulb moment and think " ahh.....I know what I should be doing......"?

 

Do they just wake up one morning and over a brew think " mmmmm......greyhound x huskey.......that's where I have been going wrong all these years, why didn't I think of it earlier" ?

 

Are they down the pub and old Ron aged 97 says casually over a brown ale " I will let you into a little secret son......one word.....Huskeys"?

 

Are they having a quiet shit and while reading this weeks Heat magazine see a picture of some random Eskimo and his dog team and think " GOTCHA!!...... You beauty !!!"?

 

Is while in the doctors waiting to get more medication and flicking nochalontly through a 10 year old National Geographic that they stumble across an article about how a sled dog saved some unfortunate trapper lost in the wilderness from a bear attack that they think " ahh yes!!......if I had a faithful but brave companion like old Benji I would cross it with a grey hound" ??
