You know its a struggle to get Tomato's to germinate some times. here's a dried Sungold Tomato that was on the ground and all the seeds inside have started to grow.

I'd put the runners straight in but get some slug pellets down, they will hammer them if given a chance.

Here's A runner sending up 3 shoots FD.

In your experience Would that make it a more virile seed and therefore more productive or a “freak” and less productive

They are in sort of arry , the pots have no bottoms , didn’t think you could buy slug pellets anymore ?

Yeah mate you can but they are different now. They are Organic and don't hurt the birds or hedgehogs etc. They don't last very long as well. They are ferris based and you don't find the slugs and snails they go away and die.

I don't notice any difference mate I just let them go. As long as theres some dung or compost under them they seem to do okay mate.

They will need something to climb up mate.

I’ve found the new blue slug pellets absolutely useless, and they degrade and leave a sort of hairy, mouldy residue.

Im spraying my brassicas with garlic fluid, and I have beer traps, seems to be working up to now.

Thank you . Yeah I didn’t want to go to the expense of canes … hence planting by the  the wall , when I go back to work tomorrow I will bring my battery home and screw some baton and mesh to the wall for them to climb .

I find them ok Charts but you don't find any slime or dead one they are supposed to crawl of hind and die. The other thing is I put down wood ash by the hedge where the come from they don't like crossing that till it get very wet.

Beer traps are good mind not tried garlic spray, I have read about it.

Diesel mixed with creosote. 4 inch brush round any areas you are concerned with. The blighters will not slither over it. Foolproof. Jok.

Don’t think it’s good for the soil or plants though … ok for stopping wood rotting .
