Got these garlics from Lidl today 37p each.

last year I got garlic from reputable dealers and I was disappointed with the outcome.

I’ll start these in pots in a poly tunnel and probably move them out in the spring.

I got 55 good size cloves off those garlics.

Planted 45 in pots in a poly tunnel and watered them in with a solution of seaweed and covered with glass; 

Put another 10 in individual pots in the greenhouse;

I was recommended to use this Clover compost, it’s 100% Irish peat. 

First time I’ve used it, I await the results .

Just bought some Clover Irish moss peat myself Charts for the first time, got to say it looks good. I used to use Vitax peat for years but the nursery I get it off has closed down. Sow my big onions towards the end of next month, so we will see what kind of germination I get.

My pal who grows a lot of my plug plants swears by Clover so I’ve gave it a try. 
I normally grow “garden veg” but this season I’m going to try some show types, leeks, onions and green beans.

Ive been recommended to get show seeds from Kings Seeds .

Been growing large Onions for a few years now Charts. Was using Suttons "Exhibition" and getting some nice size ones up to 2.5 lb's. But the last two years I was getting crap germination with Suttons. So I've switch to Premier Seeds and germination was really good. I'm surprised as well they store really well.

A old plumber working on the same building site as me grew big onions for show and wrote down instructions for me. Of coarse  that bit of paper is long gone. But I remember him saying put your onion seed Christmas Day. Wish I could remember all the feed instructions.

Ashamed to say I’m more of a heat up/ warm through kinda guy than actual cooking from raw ingredients … my excuse is living alone and easily pleased …

Garlic is coming on well, taken them off the heat and lights.

Got show leeks, onions and cabbages on the heat and lights now.

Built a couple of “plant pagodas “;

Growing season seems to be starting earlier each year !

I turned the veg patch over before the big freeze came, which i think was a good move. Other than getting my daughter some seeds for Christmas (she wants to grow some veg herself this summer)  that's it for the veg patch so far!!

I asked the missus to get me various veg seeds for Xmas so that they’d be here and ready …. She said that wasn’t a Xmas present so no …

I got seed propagators, heat mats, seeds and this book amongst my Xmas presents
